The ethernet connection isn't the issue here.How do I add a signature?0 -
Ok, first let's go back a couple of steps just to confirm you still have the same problem.
Click on the Windows Vista Start button.
Type the following command in the search box, and then hit the Enter key.
devmgmt.msc
Device Manager will display,
under Network Adapters, are there any warning symbols?
Expand the Network Adapters to look for the wireless adapter,
Right click on it and choose 'Disable'
ignore any warnings and disable it.
don't close 'Device Manager' yet.
Then unplug your ethernet cable, which i assume you are currently using for internet access.
Wait a few seconds then re-enable your wireless adapter.
Now you can close 'Device Manager'
Watch the wifi icon in the System tray, down at bottom right,
When it looks like it has connected, then open your browser and try some websites.
Does it work? if not, what does the wifi icon show?
What does it look like and what does it tell you when you hover over it?
When you click on it can you see your router showing as 'Connected'?
Also, if still no access try this,
Open a cmd prompt window as you did earlier and type this into the window followed by 'Enter'
ping bbc.co.uk
That should only take around 10 seconds to complete
does that fail or does it receive a response?
If no response, or DNS error reported, try it again like this, followed by 'Enter'
ping 212.58.241.131
Again, should only take around 10 seconds or so.
You can copy / paste those commands into the cmd window to save typing
and if you are running another firewall, see if it alerts you when you send those commands,
if it does, then allow ping, don't block it.
Let us know how you get on with that

Hello,
Thank you, and I apologise for the delay in responding.
There is a warning symbol for Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface:
This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)
Click 'Check for solutions' to send data about this device to Microsoft and to see if there is a solution available.
I have clicked for solutions, and to search for a driver update, online, but it says it is up to date.
I have tried the instructions in the post above (disable and enable wireless), but it still says Limited Connectivity.
I have tried the ping bbc.co.uk command.
It types a few lines and then closes the command box.
I did the same with ping 212.58.241.131 and that also does the same. Types a few commands in the command box, then closes the command box down.0 -
I am now connected wirelessly!
I phoned Sky Technical Help again. Spoke to a really helpful Indian man who said straight away that Vista has a problem with the security settings.
He advised changing the router to WEP and it now all works fine!
Thank you for everyones help!
Cant remember what my old Plusnet router was on, as we changed it a few times so that my Son's DS's would connect.0 -

That was suggested in post #38
Be aware that WEP is not secure. Consider using MAC filtering as well. How do I add a signature?0
