Thanks everyone for your help - the phone is drying out hopefully in the airing cupboard and I have now realised that I just feel "inadequate" today.
I had deliberately kept today relatively quiet client-wise just in case, and thankfully my afternoon client has cancelled, so I think I will take it as a sign that I shouldn't be doing anything other than being "inadequate", which is just as well because I now just want to cry, and clients don't pay me for that kind of thing!
A friend who looked after the children yesterday for me has asked me round for coffee so I will take her up on that, buying some chocolate on the way, and just trying to take a breather.
Karma - we have loads of family, Dad has 2 brothers and a sister, and his mum is still alive. He was divorced from my mum but had a second wife (also divorced) and a new partner. To keep things simple, me and my sister just decided to do things on our own - I don't think either of us could have coped with the "loving fuss" that would have surrounded us, if that makes sense, although I did speak to my Nana and my Dad's brother near to the time to let them know. What we did yesterday seemed right, but it took us 2 years to get to that point!
Off to brush my hair and go for coffee. Thanks for your help xSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Hello
I just wanted to say what an inspiration you are Hypno06 - I have only really just in the last month of so come to terms with the amount of debt I am in and am still, if honest, overlooking the fact it that makes sense. Our systems at work are currently down so thought I would have a quick read of a few thred's, I have only got through yours - couldn't stop reading it. You have achieved so much and seem so focused. It has really altered my thoughts and feelings towards my debt, so a very BIG BIG thank you to you. I will be reading in again later, finishing work early to embark on my plans to a debt free future. Thank you again!!0 -
Thanks, SortingIt! Once you have got your head around the situation you are in, progress can and will be made!
This evening I feel tired but better I think. I have grovelled to DS about his phone, and continue to hope that the drying out period (phone has gone to rehab) will work!
I have got a sausage and vegetable risotto cooking, and *had* to open a new bottle of white wine to add to it while cooking......seems a shame not to relieve the bottle of some of the remaining contents.............
The laptop has died completely and DH has taken it to PC world to see if there is any hope for it - obviously just one of those days.
The kids have just come in from the garden arguing about who's rules they should be playing  My peace is completely shattered!!!
Now, where's that wine..............;)Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
No luck with the laptop. Completely !!!!ed....
Not only that, but I can't get into Quidco for some reason on the PC to allow me to start looking for a cheap replacement
And, my last client "forgot" to turn up meaning that I am down on today's money, but at least it gives me an unexpected hour to [STRIKE]be on DFW [/STRIKE] do some housework
What really pees me off is that yesterday we received a new battery for the laptop because we thought that was the problem, and now we can't return it - talk about waste of money!
I still haven't heard from the court about my Barclays charge claim - if that would come through then I could buy a laptop without having to borrow money - as it is, if I buy a new one, it is going to have to go on the credit card which, at 25% is just not fun.
Oh well, the sun is shining, again and the birds are singing, so things could be a lot worse!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Ooh, excitement - I am at 1000 posts :j
Ok, so now I am at 1001 because I am typing this, but I am still excited!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Hi Hypno :hello:
I regularly read your thread, and always read the daily ones as I find them such an inspiration. That is such a shame about your laptop - have you been on the shop but dont drop board to see if any bargain laptops are chatted about on there?
Also, it may be worth just taking a look on ebay to see if the battery that you bought is saleable (sp??:o)... worth a try.
Keep at it hun, you are doing extremely well, and I envy you for how well you are doing with your matched betting. It still hasnt 'clicked' for me - wish it would!!
Pat yourself on the back from me you are making great inroads in your debt xxMFW

Thank you! I hadn't thought about the shop til you drop thread so will head over there now, and I think we have nothing to lose by putting the battery on ebay - even a few quid towards the cost is better than nothing.
It just seems to be one step forwards, two steps back and I am just so grateful for the support of these boards, otherwise I would have gone absolutely and totally mad! (instead of which I am just slightly barking instead.....)
As for matched betting, keep on reading - I have slowed up in the last few weeks while I have had other "stuff" to deal with, but really want to get back into it and get another few quid. Believe me, it took me ages to have the confidence to go ahead, but when it all clicked into place it was fab!!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. I know what you mean hun, just when things are all going well, something crops up, usually computer or car related!! I hope you find a new laptop for a decent price... BTW did the mobile survive its wash?!?MFW

So far the mobile is still drying out in the airing cupboard with no indication that it will live again.....:(
DS keeps asking when we can go into the city to buy a new one, so I am praying to St Jude (patron saint of hopeless causes) that mobile phone miracles do happen, as I don't think DS will be happy with a cheap replacement "to be going on with" because he bought his phone with his birthday money last year and is very proud of it.....
So, St Jude, if you happen to be reading this, please be nice to a very stressed Mum.....Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
All fingers and toes crossed hun. My cousin threw a Nokia down the loo and it survived that... xxMFW
