Hypno's kick up the backside debt diary....

Hi everyone!! Have been out for coffee with a friend and then went to Asda to do some shopping.
Now, as you all know, May has been a very frugal month so shopping has been largely "if we still have a roll of toilet paper in the house we can manage" type thing. "what do you mean we have nothing to go in sandwiches - we have mayonnaise" sort of stuff.
So, with funds starting to trickle in, I thought I would go and do a big shop, since the cupboards are bare (except for mayo, dolmio and weetabix).
OK, I have bought stuff that will last us all month, like washing powder, loo cleaners, soap etc, but the bill came to £114
Of course, pre-LBM this would have been normal. Now it is shocking!!! What is worse, is that I went round without a list!! Hopefully have not bought anything that is not essential, (well, apart from the bag of cookies...:o ).
Going back to the postie thing - I am not generally afraid of him. honest!! It is just that with the couple of weeks I have had, everything he has brought me seems to be saying "I know May is hard, so I just thought you might as well get all the bad news out of the way at once!".
Today though, he has bought me.......2 leaflets and a letter addressed to "the householder" mentioning that they could save me money on my house insurance!!! So nothing to worry about, my positive day continues.
I have a client at 3 so now have an hour to myself. Time to surf MSE and catch up with what everyone else has been doing xSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Hiya hypno, don't think that you should feel bad about the shopping, if it was £114 every two weeks or week then that would be bad, but to do a months shopping on £114 with 2 kids you've really done rather well. :T OH and i do £200 between us, mainly as he has the appetite of a large herd of elephants! I guess when you buy it in seperate little bits you don't notice how much it adds up to, but when you do it all in one go
oops sorry for messing up your post hypno, sent to early! see below...debt @05/11/11 £12210.63!! slowly chipping away!!:heart2:impossible is nothing.:heart2:0 -

Had a quick look at the CAG website to see if I could find more details about my court stuff, but decided that this is a day of no stress and no worry, so CAG can wait a day or so!!
Nothing is going to happen until 12th July, so I have plenty of time to prepare for it.

Hypno you are right to attack the day with a positive attitude from the second you wake up, it makes the whole day feel so much brighter. You have done really well to come through this 5 week month with a smile on your face at the other end, as well as knocking loads off your debt too. I am aiming to have our remaining £3k paid off by Christmas (just paid off a £5k loan - YAY!) sorry mini hijack of the thread there....
Anyhoo back to the point, keep up your good work and your sunny attitude and keep posting, you know we are always on here to support you. xx :TMFW

Oh, that kind of post makes me mad  , masquerading as real post when it drops through the door!
Still sneaking on at work, being very naughty today! The kids are all on their laptops so I am too! They are not on MSE though (I expect! )0 -
On the bank charges thing, I'm no expert (actually when I first heard about getting bank charges back I was disappointed that I'd never had any - what kind of twisted thinking is that?) but my Mam got a letter similar to yours that made her cry and she thougt she was going to be a test case. A couple of weeks later the money was in her account but she never got any correspondance ever to say that I don't think!0

Hi Taxi :hello:
just popped on for a quick look (can't stay away for too long) while the children are at karate. Got to pick them up at 7 and then they are supposed to be at ski training from 7 til 9!! Talk about being in two places at the same time. Only 10 mins between the two but they have to get changed and the like!
No stress.....I will remain calm.....I will..... I WILL I TELL YOU - ARE YOU LISTENING TO ME!!!!!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0
