my mum was an obsessive cleaner as well and never forgave a mistake. Read this as: we painted the bed room when i was less than 6 and even at 16 doing my Art GCSE's we weren't allowed paint in the house.
thats probably why i'm so lazy about housecleaning now, that and the mess it makes of my hands. I'm not precious about my hands, don't get me wrong but i have very bad excema and cleaning products etc take the skin off them (literally)0 -
Pania
Ian Waite and Richard Hammond?
Not that there's anything wrong with either of them of course, but they are at opposite extremes of height:rotfl:0 -
Hi hypno, hi all - Imp, in particular - as another psychotherapist sheepishly raises her hand! Did you know that all psychotherapy courses require their students to undergo their own therapy? Its not just to give them experience of being on the other side of the chair, y'know. Its cos they're all mad as loons :rotfl: Housework is obviously a part of life that expresses this particularly strongly!
Ooh, PS - I've just got into Top Gear, in the last two weeks, and am in thrall to the madness that is Jeremy Clarkson, the Hamster, and the other guy (okay, James May). Hysterical. Hammy looks pretty good too.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Evening Hypno and all...I don't know why my house is a mess....I grew up in a clean house and even with 5 kids at home it was very clean...think it's because I go to work early...I'm tired and by the time I've had tea and washed up and sorted the washing I can't be bothered or am too tired...
I'm meant to be doing the kitchen this weekend but haven't even started it yet!!!!....cos I'm tired...am going to have a long soak in the bath and have a facial instead...lol...maybe it will get done tomorrow..take care everyone0 -
Hi guys....back from work and boy do my feet hurt!!
KC, I do have therapy - of the chocolate and MSE type.....does this count as supervision???????
P, love the picture!!
Just sitting down with salad for my dinner, because it is quick and doesn't need me to cook! How lazy is that! Got some work to do this evening but won't be working too late because I have to be up early in the morning to take DS race training!
Have a good evening everyone......my kitchen is starting to look like a kitchen again!!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Evening everyone. I still haven't done the kitchen... oh dear. The one thing I really want to do is wash the floor but I feel I can't do that til all the washing up is done. And it never is done.
I think attitudes to housework are more complicated than just being a reaction to your mother's approach. My mother is quite a slob, and of her five children, two of us are hopeless yet the other three manage to keep their homes pretty neat.
In my case I think my pigsty house is a manifestation of the worry I feel about work and money aspects of my life being out of control.
On which subject, I must actually DO some work. Panic, panic....Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -

....
I think that this is how I feel about mine - it drags me down just as much as the money worries do. Stress is such a complicated thing, invading us in loads of areas of our life......a multi faceted approach is required.....simple!!
See, I told you this was good therapy:o I should be working too right now, but am just too worn out to make a start. Actually that is rubbish, I could do SOME work, but just haven't gotten round to starting it this evening, so will wait until tomorrow.....
I hope tomorrow is good for you xSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0
