I hope I didn't accidentally set your alarm clock off! Sleep well.
2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Well, after a whole load of virtual lambrini on the Friday party thread, I have a virtual birthday hangover and a half!
But, up and ready to face the day (well, up anyway). Kids are skiing this morning, I am working this afternoon, as is OH. Lodger has her boyfriend over for the weekend from Norway so will no doubt not appear much from her room- just a normal day again, which after yesterday I am very happy to have.
So, have a good weekend guys!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -

Ah, normal. Isn't it nice, sometimes? Today is a day of digging in the garden, listening to a meditation CD, and watching the clouds. Oh, I have to do more on my accounts, thats normal. I could quite go for normal at the mo (the lodger's day sounds fairly interesting tho!

Hi SF, Hi KC!!
It is pouring with rain here at the mo - really really heavy!! I am not sure if we are in for a whole day of it, certainly looks grey out there now!
I hope the rain doesn't reach you KC, otherwise your digging will be non existant!!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Ooo, is that leftover North Sea storm? Yike..... here its a fair bit of horizontal cloud, very pretty actually, with a dark clump to the east - thats a regular pattern, it gets blown by us. Here's hoping it continues that way. One day (next year, I commit to that right now!) the whole of my garden will be a pleasant place to be! Hypno, I've never heard you talk about yours - do you ever get out there? Whats it like?2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Hmm..my garden....well.
I like a nice garden - I would love to be able to sit outside on the few nice days we get and have coffee or glass of wine etc.
Unfortunately I have a small garden, which goes the same way as my housework - I just never seem to have time to do it, and even though it is a small plot, it is overwhelming for me!
My friend though, loves gardening and this year has been making steady progress in helping me clear, dig and plant, so hopefully next year it will be much more manageable.
I have a small kitchen garden too which has given me a good crop of strawberries, herbs and courgettes this year. I hope to make that more structured for next year too so that I can grow a few more veggies (it is only a small kitchen garden though, so can't be too ambitious!).
We have a pond, which is lovely when it is nice, but this year it got an algae which we just could not shift. As a result, it just looked like a stagnant pool of water, no ability to see the fish, pond skaters and water boatman. The pond is possibly going to be filled in and re-sited, as it is actually in a dangerous place compared to the house, and more than one guest has fallen in, even without the help of alcohol!!
One advantage of the old "house of hell" was that it had a third of an acre......that was fab, room for the kids to play, room for veggies and fruit trees, sun all day........etc......etc. But that has gone!!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Oh, I do remember now that you've talked about a few food plants, and your friend coming round, nice one. It sounds like with her help you're on the way to getting it sorted - probably be easier to *keep* sorted than *get* sorted - hopefully, anyway. I like sitting outside too, tho this year it was never nice enough when I had the time. I never used to at my old house, it was in a v densely populated area, and there was always someone screaming or playing loud music. Here, its a green suburb, much quieter, and easier to get the sun. It can be lovely - sounds like yours can be too. Thanks for sharing!2023: the year I get to buy a car0

You really should come up to Norfolk some time KC, we have some beautiful spaces here, fab coastline (yes I know you are on the coast, but it is nice to see others) etc etc. Perhaps one of your sci fi thingies will be nearby one day so you can visit. We are lucky being here because there is so much countryside within easy access that having a small/overlooked/disorganised garden doesn't stop us enjoying "space" IYSWIM!!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Lovely to hear you sounding so cheerful again, hypno:j
I'm so glad that the funeral could go ahead as planned and that the family can start to put all that sadness behind them. Three cheers for Pania who always seems to lift your spirits(as you seem to do hers too) when needed. I really envy you both for being more than 'virtual' friends and will look forward to hearing how your rescheduled Costa jaunt goes. Sounds like your birthday actually turned out a lot better than you expected, as loads of people taking the time to let you know they care is better than a houseful of gifts IMO.
I'd forgotten the Norwegian boyfriend was coming this weekend:o . Presumably BIL and his family haven't had to stay over after all, but at least the house was spick and span for the Norwegian guest. Wouldn't want him to report back to your lodger's parents that she's living in a hovel:rotfl:. How would you have coped with BIL's lot plus the boyfriend all at once? . But, knowing you, you'd have sailed through as if it's the most normal occurrance in the world:rotfl:
Enjoy your weekend in your lovely sparkling home, as much of it as you get to actually be in it, given your normally hectic weekend scedule.
Take care
