Jeezo Hypno at the amount you do and manage to pay off your debt I thought you would have had a mega huge income. Wow you inspire me loads. You go girly xx

No, we are in that awkward bracket where we don't earn much, but we earn too much to qualify for a decent amount of tax credit etc etc.

I would quite like a mega huge income........know of any going begging

I have to get on top of all this, I really do - it may be that becoming properly employed again is what I have to do. Except I don't want to do that!

I know what you mean - I didn't want to go back to work either, but sat down and looked at the figures one day and nearly cried! I was VERY fortunate that in my line of work I can walk straight into a well paid job at the drop of a hat, so it was just a case of making the decision to go, and I was back at work that month.

I'm not saying you should do it, but for me it has worked a treat.

Just had a minor idea that might help slightly - will PM you.

Could you not link your children to a wheel when they are downhill skiing and generate your own energy :rotfl: :rotfl: .

You should really look at switching though.

I think I need to do more with the budget side of things and get back into doing the spreadsheets.....scary though it was!

So for example, OH pay goes into the account that the mortgage and the household bills comes out of so once he gets paid I should know exactly what is "excess", and take that out and put it somewhere else, topping up what I need for debt payments etc.

Get child benefit paid into an account that then funds the kids karate etc.

Anything I do, goes then into another account which will have to fund debt repayments, topped up by any excess from OH pay, plus his 2nd job income etc.

Student's money pays for food and petrol......

See - simple really isn't it.............?

Hypno don't get upset about it. You have been managing very well since you started posting here, so all is not doom and gloom. Yes you have the option of going back to employment any time that feels like the right thing to do.

And the 'extras' that you can't rely on have paid for you to pay off 10k debt this year. If you can keep that up for just four more years you have done it. And it's bound to get a little easier, at some point you will be able to get a nice 0% card. The lecturing you are doing will pick up and bring in money faster than ebaying. etc etc.

We all have great confidence in you in DFW-land!

How about doing a challenge for a week .... don't tell anyone else in the hosuehold though so their habits don't change ...

Week one: Take meter readings t the start of the week and then do the same again at the end of the week (easy so far ;) )

Week two: Do exactly the same as week one but don't use the tumble dryer at all under ANY circumstances !!

Figure out the difference in units used and then work out how much the dryer is costing you ... I know when I stopped using mine (other than emergencies / drying towels etc), my electric bill went down by about a third
    Mortgage Total: £51,549 / £75,000
    Mortgage Overpayments Pot £1079
