We have had a fab Sunday dinner of fishfingers, chips and spaghetti!! I told everyone to use their imagination and pretend it was roast beef with all the trimmings.....

I hope the dishwasher works OK too! I've never had one before, always thought they were a decadent luxury but suddenly I don't care about that. OH has yet to plumb in (I think he needs to acquire a new bit of hose) so I can't confirm yet that it's working.

I envy you your tidy house - and look forward to reading the book and it having the same effect on me. I've done nothing much this weekend. I went for a walk with DD3 and DS, DS was whinging and asking to be carried (he's 6) and I realised his trainers are far too small. So I've got to buy yet more footwear. Why do they all grow so fast!

well i went to bed at 6pm hoping to get a couple of hours but all i could think of was house work ....THIS WILL NOT DO LADIES IT SIMPLY WILL NOT DO ...so ive given up on trying to sleep and will sit here and browse instead...seaxwyn is friday a good day for you (or anybody else for that matter) as i have to go into work on tue wed and thur but i should be free all friday infact it would really suit me to do it then as i usually find the excuse of going for lunch with a friend (which i can t afford to do but somehow manage) no problem to justify at all ...let me know

I have to make one thing very clear.......although I have spent hours and masses of energy on the housework thing, my house is a very very very long way from being tidy!

There are simply "pockets of tidyness" and "bits of space" which were not there before!

And because my house was SO bad, ANY bits of tidy space make me feel good!

I know what you mean about shoes Seaxwyn, my DS announced that his shoes have holes in the soles.......better go find some cardboard

hypno at least you have pockets of tidiness thats more than i have you need to see my place utterly embarrasing you now how when a friend phones to say she's coming over and although you had no plans on going out suddenly you find them ...well thats my house at the moment

Yes El, that was exactly the state of my house.

I hate it whenever I say "excuse the mess" and they say "oh you should see mine, it is just as bad" when I know damn well that their house wouldn't be that bad if it had just been burgled, bombed and anything else destructive!

My house has gone beyond the "lived in" or "comfortable" stage.......downright shameful and embarrassing. In fact, I got this text from a friend of mine (the same one that is already doing my garden because I can't cope with it):

"Have come up with an idea to help you! You can say thanks but no thanks if you like but I'm just trying to help you get on top of things. So what if one morning next week I come over and help you get on top of your house work. Remember, I've seen your dust and dirty floors and I'm still talking to you, so think about it please, your dust is just the same as mine"

So:

• Firstly her dust is non-existant so how can it be the same as mine that she wrote her name in earlier in the week.....
• Secondly, now you can see why I have had this mad spurt of housework energy. I have been shamed into it!
• Thirdly, I feel very inadequate...........the house STILL is a long way from being tidy and I STILL haven't started that essay that has to be in on Tuesday, but I am now too tired from doing the bloody housework!!

Oh well, cup of coffee time (decaf of course).....

El, I am up for Friday housework challenge.....
