Hypno's kick up the backside debt diary....

Sorry guys, but my cunning plan is about as cunning as one of Baldricks!:rotfl: :rotfl:
Our debt should shrink about £1000 a month but because of hubbys move to overseas we've had to pay out a lot just recently. (a new lap top, new phone, a new piano (he says it will keep him out of bars)) which means that the shrinkage hasn't been big enough. BUT, he gets it all back (apart from the piano, but I'm selling his old one
) in his October/November pay packet, plus $4,000 relocation money.
And going through the accounts recently of the now-disbanded youth group that we were on the committee for, I totalled up how much we were still owed... We had thought that we might have to kiss it goodbye as the charity has a nil bank balance. But apparently Head Office will repay us, and the total is £1000-ish.
So £35,000 is again achievable.
OTOH, I am home alone tonight (youngest returned to boarding school this afternoon) and I have had about 5 evenings like this in the last 10 years, but I'm going to have to get used to it.

Spud, I think Facebook calls itself a 'social networking site' or something - its sort of a cross between Myspace and Friends Reunited. You basically post your profile, and then friends can find you on there, send you messages etc - you can also join groups and meet other people that are in your area, or interested in the same things as you, if you want to.
It's quite fun and addictive, especially the graffitti wall, which I LOVE!!"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
Morning all, well, I am pleased to say that I posted my ebay parcel yesterday as promised. Really need to list a couple more bits on there.
Today I need to go into the city to get some books to help me prepare for the tutoring I will be doing, but I need to make sure I only spend on necessary books - it is all too easy to spend on books I will never get round to reading, all in the belief they are good for business!
I will be seeing a couple of clients today, but generally quite quiet (at the mo) - gives me chance to do some more admin/clear another corner of the dining room table currently not visible due to the amount of junk on there!
OliveOyl, any plan that includes reclaiming £1000 expenses plus obtaining $4000 relocation seems far better than anything Baldrick could come up with! A plan so cunning.....you could cut your teeth on it.....:D

Morning! :hello: I'm back! This is the first time I've been on mse since yesterday morning - the actual work thing went really well yesterday, and I only have half the contact time today, which is a real relief. Also means I can pop on here, hurray! Facebook, tho - my nephews are on there, they all live in different cities, but I don't think I'm going to go there - I refer to mse as my social networking site, actually.
Hypno, I envy you your up to date accounts... I still haven't finished last year's. I'm hoping to finish updating our website this week, then work on last year's accounts for the rest of September.
My debt seems so tiny compared to the £35k challenge people - its about £10k now. But cos my income is veering downward slightly (long story) I find it increasingly difficult to meet the payments. Boy, am I glad I found mse or what? Anyway, back to ordinary moneysaving today: admin, really, catching up with things, phone calls and an awkward letter to do. But I can hop on here, thats the main thing.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
LOL Karma - the accounts are not really up to date - I was working backwards - Did September, August and July, and need to go back and do some more! The "backbone" of the accounts is there for the rest, but it needs pulling together and doing properly.
I hope you have a productive day. Good luck with the awkward letter.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Aha! I should work backwards! Productiveness to you too, hypno - the dining table sounds like the focus for you today.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Olive, getting back money that you've already spent doesn't constitute a cunning plan - it's totally right and fair. So you will be catching up soon but it doesn't sound quite enough to overtake me (she says smugly).
Hypno, good luck with unearthing your dining table.
Hope everyone has a good, moneysaving day.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
By the time I'd got round to doing (and plucking up courage to do) SS's even more cunning plan, the offer had been withdrawn. So £50 bounced out and back into my account (I hope:o ). So actually doing something seems to be the key here........0
