Hypno's kick up the backside debt diary....

Hi Hypno
Ive been 'lurking' for a while and have read your diary from the beginning.
I really admire your determination to reduce your debts, my minimum payments come to a similar amount as yours and I too am self employed, but I seem to lurch from days when I am really committed to days where I feel like 'life is too short to worry' (or eat 8p noodles!)
So just wanted to say your consistency is something I wish I possessed and I will continue to read your diary and hope that I can be a bit more like you!

Thanks Natlou - always nice to see someone new. The support from the peeps round here is fantastic and I would not be able to do half the debt reduction that I have done without them. Stick around, and good luck on your journey to becoming debt free too x
Right, I have to get up early to help a friend move house tomorrow, so I will be going to bed now. Also DD is downstairs watching what I type and she really ought to be asleep herself by now........(nope, she hasn't got the hint reading this yet - GO TO BED)
Sleep well everyone, and hope you all have a good day tomorrow xxSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Good luck tomorrow hypno - hope the move goes well. I'm gardening in the morning, and seeing a friend in the afternoon, down from London - that bit isn't very dfw, but what would we do without our friends? All of them.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

That sounds a fab day KC, indeed, what would we do without friends. The ones I am helping today are the sort that put everything into perspective without having to say anything - they lost one son at age 3, the twin of that son is now 22 and has severe autism (it is him we are moving into his flat, that he will share with carers) and the father had 2 brain tumours removed, one the size of a grapefruit - yet they are always happy, always positive, live for the day and whenever we feel low we visit them and it puts everything back in perspective and we come out counting our blessings really.
So, although an early start and a bit of a journey, I am really looking forward to helping today. Although it is OH who will be actually helping, because my neck is still sore, I am assuming the chief tea making and biscuit distributing role :rotfl:

Hi hypno
Oh my word, that family history *does* bring perspective, doesn't it? Glad to hear that you're going to be in a support role - we used to call it chief cook and bottle washer, which I think was WWII slang!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Hypho, a slightly random question.... I keep looking at your sigature and your mathed betting total keeps going up but your total saved this year doesn't ... do you not include this money in it? and if so, does that mean you have saved £9k+ AND your matched betting money??? Sorry for being nosey but I'm easily confused:DMortgage Total: £51,549 / £75,000
Mortgage Overpayments Pot £10790 -
hi benben! The total from matched betting has been used for the majority of the year to pay extra off the debt. However, July and August our income goes down because we have no student renting our spare room, and because of my accident I have not worked as much these last few weeks, so the money from matched betting has tended to go in the general living "pot" to help make the minimum payments. Also these last couple of months we have had to put some petrol and groceries on the credit card, again due to the reduced income, so the total is not going down as much as it should! Plus the summer hols and the expense that they bring etc etc!!
However, our new student arrives on Sunday and so from September, it will be debt busting as usual!! All extra money made from matched betting etc will be going straight off the egg cards!!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes.
