i bought a car stereo off of ebay, i won it for 50 quid plus postage of £5, when it came it had no carry case for the face and no mounting cage to install the stereo with. The seller never mentioned anything about these parts being missing and the cage is needed to fit the stereo, i could live without the carry case.

I contacted the seller who basically said i could go and buy a cage from halfords ie pay for it myself, he said he does not have these parts.

His listing basically said the unit was in good condition then just a big listing of the spec of the stereo. There was one picture showing the stereo and wires etc but not of the missing parts.

so i contacted paypal and raised a dispute and i was looking for a partial refund of 18 quid to replace the missing items, it has been decided in favour of the seller. Im flabbergasted.

Im a wrong to have expected to get these items especially as the cage is needed to actually fit it to a car? I feel kinds ripped off and let down by paypal.

    LINK TO THE ITEM

Unless the listing specified a cage it is safe to assume it isn't included. Particularly when you yourself say the missing items were NOT in the photo! Sorry but your logic is flawed by common sense.

For future reference PayPal nor eBay can force a partial refund.

The feedback shows you in a worse light than the seller.

I had a buyer try a similar thing with me. I sold a broken mobile for spares and repairs. I listed with a photo of the actual phone, not the stock photo. They e mailed me and said 'I thought I was getting a charger?' I politely said I did not list a charger and it was not in the photo as I don't have the charger to my knowledge. He did leave positive fb in the end, but you are not entitled to something that is not listed and I am not surprised Paypal found in favour of the seller.
I have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off :o

i dont mind the feedback thing

for years i have had mostly good dealings with folk but you should not need to ask if it an item includes this that and that and so on.

so if i advertise a car and dont mention the engine is missing, does that mean its the buyers fault for not asking of there is an engine, plus the thousands of other parts that make up a full car, common sense should prevail and its should be safe to assume the car has an engine despite the seller not mentioning this.

this is fair enough when the art is listed as spares, of this was listed as spares i would be inclined to ask if it has the other items included in the sale.

If you buy a radio from a retailer would you expect the cage to come with it. If it wasn't listed then don't expect it tbh. Most radios are sold without the cage. See no difference here, maybe u should have read it properly or asked the questions before buying it.

what planet are you on all car stereos come with a cage they are listed on the manual as parts that come with the stereo, its not an extra, its essential to fit the stereo.

Specific cages fit specific cars, so you'd need to be lucky to be able to use any particular cage that came with a radio anyhow. Halfords do indeed sell "one fits all" type cages, which will do the job but are not excellent.

I think you need to purchase one, and you've ruined that sellers feedback unfairly.

specific cages fit specific car stereos ie usually by brand, the halfords one wont do as the alpine unit has 2 spring loaded pins that clip into place and that cage does not accommodate this so its no use. I have ordered an alpine compatible cage off of ebay.

No need to be rude, any time I've bought a car stereo from retailer, I've always had to buy the cage for it, specific to the car.
