I put a ppi claim in with Barclaycard Jan this year. I still havent had a decision from them yet. Everytime i rang them & that is quite a few times ,they always had the same scripted reply we are still awaiting more information. However if you wish you can go to the FOS with this, however we hope we can settle this. Well in the last week i have tried to ring them to give them the last chance before i send it to FOS. I have not got through to them yet as i was on hold the longest was for 30 mins .So today i have sent it onto FOS i think i have waited long enough. Reading on here it seems Barclaycard are really dragging there feet . Other banks manage to get back in 8 weeks how come they cant. I think its time they were told to sort themselves out.:mad::mad:
I have today received letter from Barclaycard upholding my claim however what they are offering me is £400. I have paid ppi on this card from 2002 till 2006. it was always maxed out £1500 . Im thinking this is not much. They say if i am not happy i can go to FOS. This account is already with FOS. Anyone think the same as me this is small offer.

Thanks teleop and good luck yourself will keep you updated....hopefully it'll be good news for us all fingers crossed....
Hi Calw finally had a letter been upheld. However the offer i think is an insult £440 85 . Refund £290.82 +£26.49 ppi interest charged on premiums + 8% £123 54 total £440 85. They also said i could go to FOS if not happy . This account is already with them as i was sick of waiting .I sent this to Barclaycard Jan 2012. Hope you have a good outcome.

thank you :) I got a letter from the FOS ackowledging my complaint, but saying there were unindated so would be 8 weeks just to get a respone to my letter, it's going to be a long wait... that seems an awful low amount especially when you say your card was always maxed out good luck with the fos hopefully they'll get a better outcome for you

I have also had a disaster of a time with barclay card over which has taken over from egg.
I have had to send the questionairre to them 3 times
I have had to ring them looking for updates and they tell me a letter was sent out on a certain date which they would resend.
I raised it in March it finally got rejected at the start of last week. They have been a nightmare. Off to the FOS I go.
Coincidently that would of been my highest value payout if i won!
On a positive note barclay card did offer to payout for my Morgan Stanley card of £970. The egg card would of had a 10 on front of that figure though!

Same here my egg\barclaycard would have been my biggest pay out to, I got it in 2003 cancelled ppi about 4 year ago and it was nearly always maxed out with a £5,500 credit limit, good luck with the fos hope we all have a favorable outcome with them.....

We are having the same problem with barclaycard too, rejected one claim but told us over the phone that the other has been upheld and a letter sent on 12th june with the details, still not received it and just keep getting told to wait another couple of days. They say they are having trouble with their admin dept, is anyone else having this problem. We too are going to the FOS with the rejected one as it too would have been a bigger payout and I find it strange they can uphold 1 and reject the other when they were applied for the same way under the same circumstances at the same time 1 was a visa the other a mastercard and our complaint forms stated the same reasons! Will have to wait and see what happens.

Another one here waiting an age with Barclays. Mine was from a Masterloan taken out in 2002 and finished in 2007. Still had paperwork etc so gave them account number. Sent of a complaint in Jan and Barclay very quick to reject within 3 weeks. I wrote back making it very clear this was front loaded ppi and they reopened the case at end of Feb and have heard absolutely naff all since. I phoned about 4 weeks, but quite frankly that was a waste of time as it was the scripted rubbish that basically tells you nothing at all.
    Totally fed up.

    PPI Party Pooper
Barclaycard had been the worse company i am dealing with regarding ppi complaints.

    For me:
Lloyds/Tsb Loan 8 week turn around claim won.

Lloyds CC 1 week to say i didn't have ppi on it but husband has and waiting to hear but only 2 weeks gone on this.

Northern rock 2 weeks letter to say we didn't have ppi, we didn't think we did but wanted to check.

HSBC CC - 7 weeks turn around claim not held.

Barclay Card - Nightmare 4 months and it took 2 months to get first letter to say looking into it and thats that. Phoned the helpline and they was no help at all.

You need to take this to FOS immediately. Remember, you only have six months from the date of the original "full and final" rejection letter.
  • I had an Egg card for years with no problems with payments, however I had issues with Barclaycard some time ago and they refused to issue me with a card on the changeover.
I have argued with them that they have, in effect, cancelled my account and should not be charging me interest. After six weeks I finally received a reply saying "get lost", our choice, you keep paying or else.
If I don't agree write to FSA, letter already on it's way to them
