Royal Mail trying to overcharge me. Royal mail complaints now needed.

Hello everyone.

New member but longtime lurker of this forum.

I am not sure if this is the correct place in which to describe my awful experiences with Royal Mail, which I have been having to deal with quite a lot recently.

Well, I have a eBay and Amazon business and I use royal mail to send small parcels.

I usually send packets via Royal Mail 2nd Class Recorded and today asked for royal mail 2nd class recorded. It also stated on all four parcels in bold 2nd class recorded but the counter staff deliberty sent them by Royal mail 1st class recorded and has done so in the past. I have over looked them but now I am furious.

When I found out at the counter he refused to change it to 2nd class recorded and did not refund me my difference.

What can I do ?

I would like to take this further, I have phoned Royal mail customer service and they are even worse. I have been put through 6 different departments and still nothing. I have also emailed allan.leighton@royalmail.com

On top of all that, whatever parcels which I have received from other traders which I deal with, they have all come crushed and some come lost even "recorded" delivery ones.

To be honest we should all stop using Royal Fail, their price increase have also blown many people away.

Why did you pay, if you knew they had charged you the wrong amount? Why do you believe it was "deliberate", as opposed to a genuine mistake?

Well it has happened it the past and I let it go, also they only give the receipts once I have made payment and do not give it otherwise.

It was not a genuine mistake at all as he tried to laugh it off.

Well probably best to start your complaint with Post Office counters

Laughter means it is not a mistake? You make it sound like they are on a mission against you!

I would suggest in future weighing your items before going to the post office, so you can check that you are being charged correctly. Problem solved.

Either go to a different post office or write in the right hand corner 2nd class recorded or which ever service you want so that way its on the package so the post office man will see it so there can be no dispute.

    @sjburn

well it did say 2nd class recorded delivery and this is the only "local" one as my nearest one got shut down. This post office is also on the brink of shutting down. Need to use a different postal company now......

Your complaint is mainly with the post office, it's them who's over charging you. First instead of 2nd class.

As for the packets being squashed, I can only suggest they are inadequately packaged. Had one parcel arrived broken in many years of using RM and only one thing broken. It was glass, and inadequately wrapped.

I hope you have luck with moya. The posties don't.

Depending on the size and weight, some parcels can't be sent secont class recorded only first. Did you not think of that.

Your complaint is with POL not RM. You really do have a bee in your bonnet over this. Get over it.

As far as I can tell, Recorded stuff is not treated specially - it just goes in with all the other mail. The only difference is that you get a signature at the other end, it isn't tracked in transit.

Overcharging does happen - I was told First Class for a parcel the other week because it was "too heavy for second" but they conveniently forgot to mention it could go at Standard Parcel rate until I specifically asked.
