Well, what can I say. Went to the car boot sale this morning, after telling my Mum all about this 'well worn' thing and we had a right laugh - I think some stall holders thought we had been on the booze! Anyway we came back with 6 pairs between us!!! The most we paid was for 2 pairs at £1 each, the rest were 50p a pair. We have definately fulfilled the criteria with our 'scuffed toes' and 'non-existent heels'.

We couldn't move for laughing because we were looking for the really 'well worn' pairs and we were a tad enthusiastic whenever we found a pair. I don't know what the stall holders thought of us giggling away at our own private joke. However, I don't know whether I felt more embarrassed that I was buying them, or that the seller was actually selling them! :rotfl:

I'll keep you posted on how our sales go... this could become a regular re-sell opportunity... seems there's money to be had.

You really shouldn't have shown so much interest, bet you could have got them for 10p a pair if you said they were just for the dogs to chew:rotfl:

After much hilarity, and major testing of the pelvic floor muscles after reading this thread, I've just gone and listed the slippers I'm currently wearing. Well loved, tatty and grubby are an understatement. But so so comfy!

I have no idea what I'm doing, as although I've purchased from ebay before, I've never sold anything.

Wish me luck, and thanks so much OP for the idea (I'm now mulling over my sons well loved / used / smelly size 12 worn at the toes on the inside reebok trainers. Well he does have new ones! What do you reckon?)

If this is successful, I might just in true MSE style start having a clear out, and sell more stuff (not necessarily footwear I hasten to add!)

Edit:- Everyone now speaks about chavs but what ever happened to the good old fashioned gadgie? Or is this Dundee / Scottish speak, but then again even here the word is not used so often as it's been taken over by chav too. I personally prefer gadgie - the word not the person!
  • dont be coy, show us the link!!! lol

I'm too embarassed and still can't believe I've done this, but what makes it even funnier is I have just checked my ebay account and have one "watcher" already. Now is this a good or bad thing? If I get any bids I'll maybe put the link up. Just maybe mind you! :o

Oh and I confessed to my kids what I had done and they didn't believe me until I showed them for real. I really don't expect them to sell, but if they do am I supposed to wash them first ? Or ask the buyer what he / she would like me to do with them?

Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhh great idea at the time, but what have I done?????
    :rotfl::confused::rotfl:

PS has anyone else done it ?

He/she :rotfl: do you seriously think a woman would waste her money on these sort of items - definitely a male buyers area.

Did you photograph your feet in the slippers as this seems to boost the sales - I am tempted but am about to qualify as a teacher and don't think it would be wise. I would also be worried about the lunatics bidding having my details.

But good luck, don't let them collect.:D

Lol, and thank you, wish I knew some of you lot were also doing it, but then again less competition. But I don't care I did it for the laugh so please do post a pair, shoes, boots, anything! I'm still laughing very loudly just now at what I've done and just how many view's they've had.

As for the pic of the feet, I have one foot in, the other out, and to be honest they are well worn, but I'm reluctant to let them go as they are genuinely so comfy to wear especially when just out the bath.

What have I done? :rotfl:Oh and there is no way I'd let them collect me baffies in person.

I used to sell bridal stuff on e-bay, wondered at how well size 16 and over went, shoes size 9+ but when I was asked to post in plain wrapping to work addresses I realised why.
Thanks for the post, made my day.

Surely only the right slipper is well worn, cos you only have one foot!

That's a great feat of photography by the way:rotfl:

This is a good example of the subculture of this kind:

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Very-Well-Worn-Size-5-School-Trainers-Private-Listing_W0QQitemZ200098960621QQihZ010QQcategoryZ63889QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I dread to think what the 'surprise' might be.
