  • Thank you ZTD, hopefully one day he will support my emotionally, I am holding on for that day, when/if it comes I will be very happy to have my family back to how I want it and I am sure deep down he wants that as well, he could quite easily leave and have HIS wages paid into his own bank account

i feel for you i really do im a self confessed gambler. my story!!! my daughter was rapped aged just 13 totally devasting even that word doesnt sum up how we feel. the same day she told me i went into the bookies and blew 500.00 god knows why, never went into one before, well to cut the long story short i hit rock bottom hard, starting dealing what had happened to my little girl hence stopped gambling BUT oh my god its hard he has to be the one that wants to stop. my friends and oh and family all knew my addiction and begged me to stop and i lied many times and said i have when of course i hadnt. now for 2 weeks i havent gambled phew i do feel for you but i do wonder why he gambles in the first place it took only 2 half years of my gamberling to reach 34000 of debt. its so easy to hit a high when your gambling the feeling is so so addictive thats why its so ahrd to stop.
    i wish you luck xxx

  • Thank you janey30, Time will tell with him, I have just opened up a bank account for him so as soon as we get back off our hols I will start putting some money in there (not enough to go and gamble with), but enough so he can start going for a beer with his mates, go football training once a week, buy him self something, all without having to ask me for money, I am hoping if he is happy with this and being able to get some of his life back he should stop thinking about gambling and getting the urge to go, It has been difficult, as you all know being in debt plays such a huge part of our everyday lives, bills, debts, food all have to come before having a good time and buying ourselves something just because we like it, but i'm hoping by him having money to buy himself something, or spending money down pub with his mates after footie training will actually save us money in the long run, It's worth a try, i have tried everything else

    Morning Becks

That sounds like a good idea. I guess if you can start trusting him with small amounts of money, it can grow from there!

I had a scary conversation with my OH last night, we were talking about holidays and while neither of us can afford to go this year he mentioned China  !!!! Now that's going to be expensive, I need to pay off some debt and start saving hard I think!

  • Morning Lucy, you should tell your OH that if he wants to go to China he should pay for you both to go, Does your OH know you have debt?
Would be a nice experiance though to go there.

OH has finally got a passport, was it worth the £108 that it cost us, i hope so, i hope we can have more than just one family holiday together lol, if he stays a good boy then we will have many more holidays together. I am so looking forward to my holiday now, i am at work today and tomorrow, friday I am in London for the day (my mum bought me and her tickets to go and see dirty dancing for my birthday, I love that film, not going to be the same without lush Patrick Swayze, but hay still got all the good music and story line to it), then I am in on monday and fly out early hours of tuesday.

I've not been with OH very long so he know's I don't have huge amounts of money (neither does he) But I've not told him I have debt, but then we haven't talked about!

To be honest I think China may be a little way off! We both lived out the Far East as kids so it'll be a trip down memory lane. That and I like to holiday probably, if I'm going to go somewhere like that, I'm not going to worry about money while I'm there.

I think any holiday we do soon will be a little closer to home, he has promised to take me to Paris as I've never been there, perhaps we should start with that and see what happens.

Sounds like your looking forward to yours, glad you got the passport ok. I'd love to see Dirty Dancing, you'll have to let us know if it's worth saving up for!
