If you had all the money in the world....

If you had all the money in the world (who does) but limited time (10-14 nights), where would you go for a holiday to remember. It's for my husbands 40th birthday (kids being left behind) in February 2013 and we would want a mixture of exciting adventures and tourist stuff mixed with tranquillity and sunshine.

Looking for ideas (prob not Asia and too far to go to Australia i think).

Ideally somewhere BA flies and aiming for free flights with avios.

Thanks!

One that sails really, really quickly, presumably? :p

OP, can I ask why you are discounting Asia, thats probably the optimum time weather-wise to visit a lot of it.

I think if I had a really healthy budget but time constraints I'd do a flying safari to some of those ridiculously expensive tented camps in Tanzania/Kenya followed by some R&R at the most luxurious hotel in Zanzibar!

If I had "all the money in the world" I wouldn't be faffing about with avios - that site drives me barmy!

waht about something like a 5 day Galapagos cruise then a visit to the Maya/aztec place (Macchu Pichu?) and a then a few days days R&R in say Costa Rica or Mexico.

A guided tour of South Africa flying Business Class. Riviera Travel have a excellent looking escorted holiday which I'm thinking of booking in late 2013

In my experience, if you use Avios, the flights aren't free, you have to pay taxes on any flights. I used some avios for Club World flights from Beijing to London return in March and had to pay around £600 in taxes etc.

If you're set on flying BA then you're best checking the BA website, there's a very good tool on there where you put in various bits of information and it will bring up availability and costs/avios needed.

Anyway, back to your question; I wouldn't discount parts of Asia, Thailand/Hong Kong/Singapore all have what you're looking for, although the flights are long at around 12 hours each way and will be expensive and if you're looking for reward flights, you may find very limited availability, this is where the BA tool will be really helpful.

I would also consider Cape Town, as February will be warm and sunny and there are some fabulous things to do as well as gorgeous beaches. Flight times are around 12 hours but there's no time difference to deal with. We did 10 days there a few years ago and would love to return.

Or the Caribbean, Sandals have a 2 for 1 offer on - ends today though - which have some good deals, we've booked St. Lucia for 11 nights in September. If you miss out on this offer, there may be another one later in the year, I'm not sure how often these deals come up.

I'd go somewhere where jet lag isn't a problem. Somewhere like Botswana or South Africa
