hello all
Been to do errands then popped to town. I've been wanting a new duvet for me for a while now - the one I have on the bed was a wedding present when I married the first Mr Valli and is looking past its best (and I KNOW what some of you are thinking;)) so I decided to get a new one and I have been looking for a bargain. Well! Spotted one in BHS and it was reduced (apparently) from £50 to £20. Picked it up and, on the way to the till spotted a reduced, huge wok so decided to have that, too. This brought total up to £40 and I had a £10 of a £40 spend voucher so get to the till - no, duvet is now £15 so I had to 'spend' another £5 to get my £10 off. Found percale pillow cases reduced to £3 each from £5 so picked up two. Shop now up to £41, got my tenner off, used £5 loyalty coupon I also had (I have their storecard) and £26 spent! Woot woot!
Have done some ironing, too.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Evening all, kitchen got a good tidy today and a few loads of washing done. I did get about another 30 raffle things/vouchers including 50 free swims at the local pool, 100 burgers and 100 cupcakes so i'm chuffed. Loads more phone calls to do on monday but i'm really enjoying it plus it's for a cause close to me.
Boys away to try out the new 3G pitch and Rhys is in bed so i might head early myself. Hope everyone is well xxxSometimes it seems that the going is just too rough. And things go wrong no matter what I do.Now and then it seems that life is just too much. But you've got the love I need to see me through.:j :j0 -

Just committed that parent sin of falling asleep whilst your child reads to you, with a cat on my lap.
Early night needed by me after going out last night. Kitchen is straight so I may head up soon. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -

Well I think all in all, I'll choose a cheaper one. It's not a big room, the bed will cover most of it, and I had a loose budget of £1k which includes new bed and 2 sets of drawers so I shouldn't blow half of it on a carpet that won't be seen.
The old one is up, cut into strips, rolled and taped, and should fit in the wheelie bin in installments! Also pulled off a bit of paper. Which reminds me why I never hang wallpaper, getting rid is a horrible job! So there is another decision, just emulsion. I'll have the feature wall, but will stick to paint and something to hang above the headboard...
Now I need to choose a bed! Too many decisions, in my mental state xxxBossymoo

Bossymoo - I got my bed and mattress from warren evans and I love it
. They have a sale on now so it might be worth a look. Mind you, I don't have carpet as I can't stand it. It might also be worth checking your local auction rooms for drawers as you sometimes get nice old solid furniture there.
Lots going on here this week. Was away again Mon/Tues, came back Tues pm to a lovely clean house. Spare room beds were delivered Thurs. I cleaned the spare room windows and Venetian blind (I wash the slats with vinegar and water... It was grim ...) and then put up the curtains and found the bedside light, despite the pile of junk in the corner it looks lovely in there.
My bedroom curtains were delivered, so those are up, and look great too. So the house is starting to look finished. Upstairs only needs a coat of varnish on the landing floor to finish the decorating, and we need to finish furnishing the spare room. The hall and stairs will be done while I'm away, and then I need to work out what to do next.
My dad is staying, and we had cousins over for lunch, so I'm having to make an effort with cooking and general housekeeping!0 -

DS1 has just noticed a bald and sore patch under Queen Victoria's front leg, will have to investigate it tomorrow and possibly take her to the vet, she'll love that. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0
