Maybe you and the rest of the residents could organise a self lay project? 3Km isnt much.

Lol, it's a very small village and many of the inhabitants have less knowledge or interest in Broadband than Wurzel Gummidge TBH! :)

Yeah but what I want to know is if my local cab has been connected so I can get faster broadband or in the case of Virgin, what local speeds are available today. Samknows is not telling me this anymore than uswitch is.

If you put your phone number in here, it will tell you if FTTC is available. There are dozens of other providers.

Just put your phone no. into the provider's checker, (BT, Plusnet, Sky etc) it will tell you if/when FTTC is available.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Perhaps they should concentrate on improving things for people with slow speeds

I'm in South East London (Croydon) and had it installed last month. Think it was available from beginning of March here. Chuffed with performance. :D (38Mbit down / 9Mbit up).

  • Likewise here in Birmingham similar story:

    BT Total Broadband
The speed prediction we have provided is an estimate, however download speeds can vary and the actual download speed will fall between a range. This is generally within 1-2 Mb higher or lower than your estimated speed quoted
    Between 3.5Mb and 7.5Mb
    (Estimated speed: 5.0Mb) Learn more
Sorry, you're not currently able to get BT Infinity. This may be because your area has not been enabled yet, or your individual line does not support super-fast broadband. Register your interest and we'll let you know if this changes.

I have Sky BB and have been waiting for the fibre to be put in.
But then we started having outages - half to a day outage at 2 week intervals since March.
The fourth time was a case of enough is enough, and we're getting Virgin 60 Mb installed, due tomorrow.
