Hope your DGC are kind to you today, Granny.. (((hugs)))
If they bicker, you could try groaning and saying how ill you feel - perhaps they'd like to play 'nursies' and look after you?
A stock of old bandages and something to use as 'medicine' are invaluable props for this game; you lie on the sofa while the children bandage up a handy appendage and feed you spoonfuls of whatever you've chosen as medicine - I've used this ploy many a time when obliged to care for littlies while really not being well enough for their usual antics, lol. It always amazed me how even [STRIKE]feral[/STRIKE] difficult kids would transform into sweet caring angels when given the opportunity..0 -
Oh yes fab idea Robin, sorry to hear you are feeling rough Granny and hope the abs kick in soon. Hope the mock nursing afternon passes without incidentStart info Dec11

Hi both & Thanks for the suggestion Robin. This works on DGD2 who is always happy to play anything really and loves being a doctor, but not DGD1 who needs constant attention, stuff to do and really cannot be bothered to play. She's always been this way with a very, very, short attention span. She constantly goads her sister into giving up whatever she's playing with, as its so much more fun than what she's got, only to be bored of that two minutes later. She is extremely tiring to be around when I'm on top form, let alone when I'm under par. She's a gem but tiring.
DGD2 asked to go to bed around 7pm, having rubbed her eyes for most of the last hour. Bathed, cuddled, read to and fast asleep at 8pm.
DGD1 finally fell asleep at 11pm!
I coped until 4pm when I told OH he had to take over for a bit or otherwise I was going to keel over. It was at this point that I realised I'd forgotten to take my early afternoon ab, so I've had to take a crust of bread up to bed with me to take the nighttime one at 4am! I don't want to risk going downstairs as it may wake one/both!
He painted with them for half an hour, then they played on the living room rug for an hour, watching cartoons & bickering slightly but not too badly. At 5:30 I started their tea as OH had still not made them the chips he'd promised but he then realised and took over. To him they'd already had pasta salad lunch that I made them earlier so he didn't think they needed tea!
Goodness knows what time they'll be up in the morning so I'm off to bed now just in case it's at an ungodly hour. I've put stuff in their bedroom for them to play with but it may not work.
Wish me luck, their parents are picking them up at 3pm but at least OH is home all day to help a little. I love having them, honestly I do :rotfl: but will be glad to see them going home :rotfl:

Off to Malta in the morning @ 7:30, checked in & dropped bags off already - now relaxing in bed with bottle of sparkling water to ease my bloated tummy as I've eaten carbs today for the first time in 2 months.
AB worked, hen party went well but I jibbed out at 11 so no hangover for me. Some of the party didn't get to bed until 2:40 and up for breakfast at 7:30.
'See you' all when I get back
