I don't much like cooking (I'm actually pretty bad at it!) and am often overwhelmed at the thought of preparing a good, nutritious meal.

My body doesn't let me forget, - I get horrible low mood (!) and/or I get fatigued and feel queasy or faint which I guess is to do with low blood sugar.

OP why not get some fairly no-hassle foods in, like fresh soups? Then all you've got to do is heat them up, and they're often pretty good, ingredients-wise.

when i forget meals, then feel queasy and faint later in the evening, some yogurt and a sliced banana is quick and easy to prepare.
peanut butter on toast is also a good one, as peanuts contain protein

Before i met my other half i was quite content with grabbing a sandwich or a bowl of soup. cooking for one just didn't seem worth it when i was sitting eating by myself at the coffee table!
These days, like some of the other posters, i wish i knew when to stop! Haha but at least now I've rediscovered my love of cooking. Just need to switch to healthier alternatives!

I understand where you are coming from - I can actually go a couple of days before I realise I've not had anything substantial to eat - it's bad really, but with living on my own that motivation to cook for myself is just not there.

I know someone has mentioned about making a list of your favourite foods - but just lately nothing appeals to me, not even my most favourite meals in the world, for example I love Sunday Roast and just end up eating a few morsals and pushing the rest around my plate.
  • As soon as I've finished one meal I then start thinking about the next one, wishing the time away until I can eat again.

I don't think I've ever forgotten to eat, but I know my husband has. He frequently used to forget to have lunch when he worked in London in a stressful job and I just couldn't understand how (as someone who thinks about food constantly) he could forget to eat.

    You're certainly not alone.

I ensure I always have a small tin of baked beans in the cupboard. Plus a jacket potato. And I make large amounts of stews which I freeze in individual portions - just remove them from the freezer, bung them in the microwave for a couple of minutes to remove the lid, then cook them in the saucepan for a few more minutes.

The fact I've always got something quick and easy, with variety, makes it easier to make up the meals when I do forget or just can't be bothered.

But if it gets too late at night when I remember, a quick bowl of cereal at least keeps me going overnight and I make a special effort the next day.

You're far from alone. I'm not as bad about it now because I recognise how important it is to keep my blood sugars stable etc but when I was a teenager/young adult I used to forget to eat and then end up feeling feint. My mom used to tell me how although I was a smart kid and did well at school etc 'it takes a special kind of stupid to forget to eat.'
Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!

    guilty:o

with being unemployed and kids flown the nest, tend to forget
no one to cook for & no consistent schedule, so normaly just have a cup of tea and maybe toast or biscuit and then forget, also with lack of money & stress, not really motivated to eat:(
