I frequently forget to eat
not sure if no appetite is a side effect of my bipolar or the medsi take but there have been many times its gotten to this time of night and i suddenly realise i haven't eaten.
Wasn't so bad when my flatmate was still here but since he practically started living with his gf i don't have someone around to remind me. I'm trying to keep some kind of routine atm and force myself to eat something at about 8pm ishThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. I also have depression and find quite often I forget to eat. I normally only have one meal a day, though the last few weeks I've been trying to force myself to have porridge for breakfast each day.
I think depression just leads to a low appetite so you don't have the hunger reminding you. Many many times I've gone 2 or 3 days without eating as I just don't feel hungry and can't be bothered, though the longest I ever went was 6 days.0 -
I'd love to be able to forget to eat, unfortunately, being diabetic, my body tells me I have to eat by feeling wobbly, cold sweats and feeling faint. :-(0

God no I wish did have that problem, but can understand if are single then cooking isnt too much of a priority. My friend was the same hardly ever ate anything, her energy levels dropped and she became quite down but now she goes and buys ready made meals and eats an alpen bar for brekkie. She now feels much better.0

I don't forget to eat, but frequently don't eat lunch. If I'm doing something and it goes past a certain time (usually about 1.30/2pm) then I don't bother, as it would mean my evening meal would have to be too late, and I like to have it "done and dusted" by about 5.30/6pm, otherwise it cuts too much into the evening iyswim

No, even when I've been depressed I still eat - badly, but that's better than nothing. (Can I just say I'm quite upset by the number of people saying they wished they had this problem? It's not what the OP needs to hear, for one thing - like telling an insomniac you wished you had more waking hours in your day! - and for another, it's not a healthy way to think about food, because if you don't eat food you DIE.)
Can you keep protein-rich snacks in the house for when you CBA to cook anything? Flapjacks with lots of nuts will keep you going and if you make them yourself they're thoroughly MSE and keep for at least a week.0 -
I sometimes forget to eat at the weekend - I'll get the kids sorted but not fancy anything myself and then around mid afternoon I'll wonder why I'm feeling so weird and then suggest an early dinner...0

The only time I forget to have lunch is if I have a bag of nuts on my desk at work, it really is true that just nibbling a handful fills you up but generally I never forget to eat. I've had a bad cough/cold for nearly 2 weeks now though and I'm amazed at how much less I'm eating. Now I can't actually taste the food I'm stopping eating when I'm full rather than carrying on just because it tastes nice.Make £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)

This - only time I haven't eaten is when deep in depression. At that point I don't much care whether I live or die so it doesn't seem important.
However - even when on a fairly even keel I don't think I would bother much about mealtimes if I was alone - luckily my OH is around to jog my memory (quite firmly, actually...:rotfl:)
Oh - and quite right about not showering being worse. At my very lowest ebb I didn't shower for 2 - 3 weeks. Just to make things more fragrant, I did dress myself but in the exact same clothes (unwashed:eek:) for the whole time. Plus changed back into the exact same nightclothes and would not change bed linen:eek::eek::eek:
I have to point out that normally I will only wear most clothes (apart from skirt/trousers) once before washing and that if I won the Lottery I would have fresh bed linen/night wear every night, so I find the above hard to think about myself"If ever there is a tomorrow when we're not together... there is something you must always remember. You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. But the most important thing is, even if we're apart... I'll always be with you. "
