Mis-sold advantage gold account by natwest?

I also have a Gold account with Natwest, it has so many features0

i have had this experience in the last few weeks. i went in to upgrade my basic account to current account as i was sick of the restriction on where i could use my card and take money from. I also specifically state i want to be able to use my card at pay at the pump stations due to my circumstances. i was told that i could only have a gold account and it had to be new account details and the my card would work anywhere.
since receiving my card and a replacement card i had found out i have been issued with a card starting 4751 27 therefore can't use this at the pumps. the bank manager didn't know why i couldn't use the card and it was me that showed her the part on their own website to say that they are restricted. then customer service told me that i shouldn't have been offer the gold account and they should have upgraded by basic account to a silver account but i would get a card that would not be restricted as it wasn't a new account.
this has teen over 2 weeks to sort out and is driving me nuts if my credit rating wasn't shot i would up stick an leave them but i know i will only get the same treatment elsewhere.

If not, complain.
More relevantly, were you misled?0 -

Due to your credit rating NatWest will not offer you a card with full functionality. Someone at the bank may be perfectly willing to order you one but the system will prevent them.
They were wrong to try and finagle you into upgrading the account on the basis that you would "have a card that works at petrol stations". Unfortunately a lot of NatWest branches are focused on sales to the point where they will guess at the answer to something if it means making a sale.
There has also been a lot of misinformation in this thread about Advantage Gold having been an "add on". Advantage Blue was an add-on but Advantage Gold is a standalone account and as far as I'm aware it always has been.0 -

Having Advantage Gold changes the name of the account but is still technically an add-on as it can be added and removed form an account at any time.0 -
Yes that is correct, I did have AG add on product on my account, but I asked for the product to be removed, and now i have a standard Current Account. That is why im making a complaint, as I thought having AG was the type of account, and was not able to change to a normal Current Account.Having Advantage Gold changes the name of the account but is still technically an add-on as it can be added and removed form an account at any time.0 -
I logged the complaint online with Natwest a week ago now, not heard anything. Think I will phone them instead to make the complaint.0

Hi, to my suprise I have just cancelled my AG product on my Natwest current account. I only had the AG product because I was told a few years ago when I wanted an over draft facility, that I needed the AG product in order to qualify for the overdraft. I was also told that I could not cancel the AG product on my current account until I paid off the Overdraft. I never made use of any of the AG items. So just made an official complaint today to Natwest about this.
OP, I contacted Natwest about the return of the AG fees I paid for my account. The bank refused. If the amount is under £100 I think they might refund you. Don't hold your breath for anything over that.
Toben, I was also told I needed the account in order to have an overdraft on my account. I've stopped the AG and still have the overdraft facility. So that was a lie.0 -
(Obviously this is one that only NatWest staff could answer as they see the screens).
Is there any chance at all that the credit scoring results in customers close to a pass/fail on credit scoring actually being scored positively for a paid account like Advantage Gold but scored negatively for a "free" account? (i.e. that staff in the examples given are being honest when saying that customers can only have/upgrade the account if they take Advantage Gold)0 -

Can't see that especially as some of their gold advantage customers can't even get an overdraft and cheque book.0
