Morning and happy June! I've just been over to May to declare the spends (a bit over) and to put down for £250 this month for me, DH and DS(2) for all groceries, cleaning and takeaways. We're starting toilet training on Friday so hopefully there'll be no more nappies to buy for a while! We have the reusable ones all ready for DC2 when they arrive so no more to buy until they go to nursery. :j
DH has already complicated things by taking money out of the wrong account for spends and has decided he's not going to give it back! :mad:Grrrrr! Words have been had and statements waved under his nose. He's new to this budget malarky but I'll have him broken in soon.

Dinner is going to be herby cous cous salad with herby omelette.
Part of the mornings lesson with the kids was herb identification.
I showed them all the stuff in the garden that we have: chives, parsley, mint, rosemary, sage, lavender, feverfew. Even nasturtiums.
I showed them the early blossoms on the elder tree. Discussed the use of raspberry and strawberry leaves etc too. Then they had to pick sine herbs based on their uses (after repeating which each herb was good for)
Then it was a cookery lesson!
Quite enjoyable really.
Couscous had chives, mint, parsley, olive oil, vine tomato, spring onions, carrot, lemon juice and seasoning.
Omelette had mint, parsley, egg, seasoning and oak smoked cheddar.:A Every moment is a gift. That's why we call it the present.!:A

Ooo that omelette and cous cous looks yummy! And sounds like a fun morning before its creation as well!

Hello - just popped in to welcome all the newbies :T
If you're here, you're on the right track!
We've just had lunch - lo tuna mayo & cucumber sandwich for me, and the last of the ham and beef in a sandwich for DH.
Drinking LOTS of water as I've been digging in the garden all morning, and I still have more to do.:( Just keep reminding myself it's cheaper than a gym membership :rotfl:
Also have lots of washing on the line. It's great to get it all dried outside again.
Hoping to keep away from sm today but I'll have to write my list tonight and go tomorrow. Still trying to just go once a week so I'm not tempted by all the 'special offers'
OK - enough for now, see you later2025 Fashion on the ration

Love it :rotfl:
I borrowed someone else's idea yesterday and used up a sad apple in bm to make cinnamon & apple bread - superb! :j I thought I'd ruined it because when I peered into the bm the dough looked far too wet but it worked well, it's lovely and light and I'm having it for lunch now

I mentioned cinnamon and apple bread t'other day so not sure if it was me or not, I didn't post recipe but I use dried apple in my recipe, comes out nice though, got a few apples that need using up so think will try fresh apple now. I have a food dehydrator that was given to me so I dry my own apples in that, saves loads of dosh on the pre-dried stuff!June 2012 GC £52.49 / £300.000 -
Hello mind if I join this month? I last tried this many moons ago but seem to have been slowly going back to my old ways!! My month starts on Wenesday until the 27th June and this includes 3 teens, myself and a dog. I am aiming for £200 as I already have stuff in the freezer and cupboards so sort of a 'shop the storecupboard' challenge as well. The teens come and go but we all have an evening meal and two for packed lunches. I love all the photos and will try and add some of my own!
I plan on a few NSD's as a way of stopping the £20 shops for 'bits' on the way home.
Right off to plan my menus for the next week and looking forward to the challenge. Enjoy the sun!January 2020 Grocery challenge £119.45/£200

Hi, i would like to give this a try, ive set a budget of £100 per week starting Friday 1st June, this is for myself, hubby, 2 teenagers, 7yr old & 2 yr old(with GDD & sensory issues so certain textures etc he wont tolerate). Ive just done my first order with approved foods today to stock up on a few bits also have plenty in cupboards and freezers.
My problem is i cant cook lol and i have zero imagination when it comes to food!! Cant remember the last time i had a NSD
I need taking in hand lol as we are wanting to save for a caravan and car in time for next years holidays (around £10.000).
Looking forward to some help!0 -
Hi,
Im going for £260. this month, looking forward to seeing how well ( or not!!) I can do.
Have re read all the info at the start of the post again, just so I havn't missed anything. Have planned meals from 1st may through to 8th, and made a list for sm shop on Friday, because I've been following all the advice on this wonderful thread, Im not waiting for payday and having to rush out and do a big shop, its all very calm and organised, well almost. anyway lot better than normal.
Am also going to try for some NSD, I know I can do this!!!!
Good Luck too all
