How exciting :j, great stuff :TA positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

So. Here is how the money from the sale of car 2 is going to be divvied up:
£62 into holiday pot to pay for travel insurance and 10 days of parking at airport. We had already spent this money out of 'holiday spends' and I was planning on replacing it anyway.
£300 into holiday pot (running theme so far!) for car hire. Treat to ourselves as we were going to taxi to and from airport when we got there and get buses if we wanted days out. We are self catering on hols and spends will now be on a VERY strict budget! Might even try to bring some funds back home with us.
£50 family day out in April - swimming at fab swimming pool (tubes etc) and pizza tea. Its pink mini-MM's birthday and it's what she wants to do
£500 mortgage OP :j
£788 savings pot:j
£350 undecided. Could be earmarked for house bits as still haven't got door handles on the new doors from when we did our extension two years ago, no curtains at new windows and no lamp shades in two rooms! Not essential items but might be nice to get them ticked off the list. Will not decide on this for a few days yet.
Will pay the car cash into bank tomorrow then make the OP and the savings payments when I get back home. All the rest will be stashed away safely in the correct online pots.
Had a day of doing jobs today. Made banana and choc chip muffins for packed lunches this week and a batch of bread rolls. All meals from planned stores. OH taught blue mini-MM how to use a spirit level when putting up some pictures that have been sitting around for ages.
Went to garden centre this morning and spent some of my birthday vouchers on some cucumber seeds (variety Cucino - brilliant) and some shallot sets. Whilst there we used some 'family days out' money and treated ourselves to coffee.
JellyButt cat now firmly attached to my lap (evening ritual) and we're glued to the sofa.
Lovely day.MFW Challenge 2019 - £2,420 / £2,420 - 100% :T0 -
Sounds great, have a thrifty and fun week,

Still thrifty though, after all these years:D0 -
Money divvying up not quite to plan. Mr MM and I spent many dull and boring hours yesterday trying to find cheapest car hire for holiberry. In the end we decided it was just too much money so we're getting taxi's and buses as planned!
So car 2 sale money looks like this:
£62.00 into holiday spends
£500 mortgage OP
£1438 savings
£50 pink mini-MM's birthday day out
Spent a fortune in Sainsbobs this morning. It did include Mr MM's fave box chocs though (HOW MUCH!!!!) as it's our anniversary tomorrow - awwwwww. Got enough basic supplies for a good while though so should still hit target at the end of march.MFW Challenge 2019 - £2,420 / £2,420 - 100% :T0 -
Hi MoneyMission,
Just found your diary and popped in to say hello.
I have a similarly sized mortgage and I do understand the long slog. Just have to keep pick, pick, picking away at it!
I look forward to reading your progress in your diary.

Hi catshark88.
Glad I'm not alone with the eye-wateringly large mortgage! I'm off to find your diary now and wave hello over there.

Had a look at mine today and it has also just squeaked under the £300K mark at £299,293 and some odd change. _party_
So you have just got past the ginormous milestone of £300k, and you haven't bothered to mention it on your own diary??? Come on, woman! You have to throw a virtual party for getting past a really round number like that. _party__party__party__party__party_
Seriously, though, congrats on getting under the £300k. It's a big deal. And now you've got your car fund etc sorted, here's hoping you get lots more lurvely milestones soon.
PS I'm a long hauler too - mortgage may not be as big as some, but there's only one of me and my income's not enormous). See my diary here.Starting again 13/4/19Home loan 1: £21,102.50 Home loan 2: £7,698.99Total owed: £28,801.49
