I don't think we'd fit a turkey in our oven
A bit of booze never hurts at Christmas - a quick peruse of our kitchen suggests at least 130 units  Like you we have guests coming round, expecting 9 family members tomorrow.0 -
thanks edinburgher. no idea how I'm going to get on with my toikey - I'm meeting it tomorrow when I need to help my friend pluck it! They've grown some (second year running) and they do the messy bits but needed a hand with de-feathering and I said I'd help. Oh me, oh my! :eek:MFW Challenge 2019 - £2,420 / £2,420 - 100% :T0

okaaay. So the plucking of said toikey kind of morphed into choosing a lovely sprightly bird and then me and Mr MM 'managing' it from start to finish. Mr MM manned up and did it (under expert supervision). All very calm. Me and little mm's stood out of the way in the plucking area whilst the deed was done then helped with the feather pulling.
She is now in the fridge looking a darn sight chillier than she did at 9.30 this morning
Went to see family for lunch and took homemade baked raspberry cheesecake and a trifle with us as we were on pudding duty. Got to cuddle my baby niece (1 week old) lots
Other than settling up for big bird which was planned, it was a NSD.

Merry Christmas Eve, Eve, Eve!
Well done!
I am the biggest of meat hypocrites, can't eat anything on the bone or stand the sight of them being killed, but eat them happily enough!
Send me some cheesecake please!!
And Christmas Eve? Did I miss something...?0 -
'Merry Christmas Eve, Eve Eve' was what my DD was chanting all day yesterday. She means it as a way of saying its the eve of the eve of Christmas eve. So today is Christmas Eve, eve. Bless her.
Calfuray - all cheesecake gone. Some trifle left but I'm not sure how it would travel! Next time I do cheesecake I'll send a slice.MFW Challenge 2019 - £2,420 / £2,420 - 100% :T0 -
Dang and blast. Why did JellyButt Cat need to get poorly on Christmas day? :wall: Emergency vet trip which poor Mr MM had to drive through the piddling rain to get to. Me at home with all the rellies arriving imminently and trying to cook Christmas dinner and keep little MM's happy. One hundred and eighty squid later and JellyButt Cat is happier if not 100% mended yet. Need to keep an eye and take her to our vets for a follow up next week.
Ain't no way we're making an OP in January
Still. Onwards and upwards. We still have JellyButt Cat (although Mr MM is threatening to replace her with a younger model!) and she's being hot water bottle on my lap at the moment.
Christmas was lovely. Busy and full of rellies. Kids loved it.
Oh. And the toikey tasted great!!MFW Challenge 2019 - £2,420 / £2,420 - 100% :T0 -
It didn't rain!
Made the most of the weather today and had a day out at London Zoo. We had free tickets and took a packed lunch. Apart from petrol to get us there which has come out of the petrol pot and was already budgeted for, we managed to only spend £4.40. Admittedly, this was on just two coffees but they were good and they were paid for by the last of the 2012 'Days Out' pot. Lovely day!
Tomorrow is a day spent de-christmassing and then off to friends for tea and a bit of a party with the kids. We'll have them home by 9pm though as they can't stay the distance - and neither can we!
Off into 2013 fully determined to maintain current savings levels of £1200 per month for the next two months which gives us our 'Car Pot'. After that we can switch to OP'ing in earnest and also buy ourselves some much needed wardrobes.
Happy days.MFW Challenge 2019 - £2,420 / £2,420 - 100% :T0 -
