Honest Trustworthy Dealer?

Hello
I'm thinking of changing my 54 plate Mondeo tdci 130 Ghia with 89k.
Wouldn't mind another newer model I do about 20,000 mile per year so need something comfortable, economic, and reliable.
I want to keep my monthly payments at no more than £200.
Is there a directory of dealers who will be fair and honest and offer good service? I'm sure they must exist but how do you choose ??
Any suggestions are welcome
thanks

Ignoring the idiots with chips on their shoulder, i'd say check with friends / relatives / colleagues for recommendations as to who they've used. Ultimately the 'sale' part of the deal is usually painless (other than paying) so its down to how they handle problems that you will want to check.

Ultimately if you get a car still under manufacturers warranty then thats going to be one of the safest routes.

    No, it doesnt

Its best not to take advice from forum trolls who are very anti-car dealers.

    ;)

Excellent I am going to use that to find me an estate agent as well, it seems to cover that list also. ;)

    Brilliant, Lum!

As pgilc1 says there are some decent ones out there. But recommendations are generally better than an online list.

Yes, its as equally a useless post for that too.

Yeah have to agree with this advice you are more likely to get problems fixed from the manufacturer than by a private dealer...

Did I read what you said there wrongly pglic? ;)

Sorry to those who didn't find that post funny, but the point I was trying to make is that decent honest car dealers are few and far between, and just because they may have been once doesn't mean they haven't since taken on (or got rid of) some particularly slimy sales people.

As others have pointed out this is a better question for a local forum, and it may even be best to seek recommendations for particular staff members, If only to help the honest ones look a bit better on the monthly figures vs the dishonest ones.
