Rated Tradesmen Website

I did sign up to them, but wasnt very happy as a tradesperson, I am a decorator, and they were sending me jobs far further than I had said, and there was also something else in with the decorating, ie, tiling or floor laying as well.
I gave up in the end, and told them to take me off thier books, but for someone looking for a tradesmen, it is quite a good site.
I have found to my mind a better one, and if you place a job you are inundated with offers.
I was looking for someone to hang doors, within a couple of hours I had at least 6 offers.
It works on a bidding system, and the trademen have to bid for your job, or they will just tell you how much they want, some do offer riduculas bids, but you dont have to accept them, or you can, say for example, put in a maximum £500, so the trade knows you are not going to pay over that.
It is an English site, but they have a polish version, as there is a hell of a lot of poles who are registered on this site who want the job, infact I ended up with a pole to fit my doors, and the difference in price was amazing, and he done a great job, cleaned up, was careful, did everything right, and even washed his cup up after he finished his tea.:j
My friend has put out a job, and she has had about 12 offers in 2 days, so they will answer your ad, but some are not rated as yet, but its a chance you take, same as if you got someone from yellow pages, or an ad.
This sounds a great site........... what is it please???0 -

You have to register first, then after that you place your job, but read the info, and have a look through at certain jobs, then you will get an idea how it works.:D
Ictmad, sorry to see your not having much luck, I sort of get the impression that there are more tradesmen on this site for london and surrounding counties.0 -

My brother lives just outside Inverness and couldn't find a plumber at all. In the end he took a college course and did all the work himself. took him three years but according to him any kind of tradesmen are like gold dust in the highlands....0 -

yes thats very true all the tradesmen in aviemore all do work for big hotel chains and companies and arent intrested in individuals and when u do get one he quotes silly money to avoid doing the job, luckily i work in a builders merchant so i know builders, plumbers, joiners etc and can get them to do a homer, got one to fit my new kitchen for £600 and he got the plumber and electrician he usually works along side to do the small bits also otherwise i would be knackered0 -
My sister used a plumber that she found on here- http://www.trustedtradesmen.com/index.asp

I may be able to help, I am in the highlands too and my husband is a corgi reg engineer, plumber and tiler to trade. He doesn't take on huge tiling jobs but might be worth a call. He can provide references etc.

Hi All
I run a joinery and tile business and am a member on the the rated tradesmen website I live in Glasgow and as tradesmen it costs us just under £12 to bif for each job that comes to our email boxes, which average about 4-6 per day.
So beware we are not going to spend £12 to bid for your job when you want "2 metres of tiles done above the bath",I suggest if you ever want a reply to such an advert, that you would put down a max which you would be prepared to pay,and then you would maybe get an answer to such trivail jobs.
As a tradesmen I am far from happy with rated tradesmens site.I have bid for a shed load of jobs, only to be told by the potential client that the job was done 3 weeks ago.I have also introduced 2 other tradesmen to the site
which gives me a couple of free jobs to bid for,and its like trying to get blood out of a stone for my recomendations. And now these guys have been phoning me complaing about the RT site, one guy has bid for 5 jobs only to be told they were all gone.I really looked this thread up to warn other tradesmen
about the site, beware.and my sympathies also go out to you guys who have been messed around while waitting for replys.
best Mikeb0
