Yes. Obviously, make sure that it (and any possible bugs) are cooked thoroughly, but that's easy to do with mince and I'm sure that you do so in all circumstances. If you fold it in half, will an Audi A4 fit in a Citroen C5?

Hello all,
I wonder if you could just give me some reassurance please. I'm sure I've done this before and its all been fine.
I bought some sausages well before the use by date, used some of them and put the rest in the freezer.
Now I've defrosted them overnight with a view to tea time tonight. (Freezer and fridge all working fine btw, often checked with thermometer)
Now, obviously these sausages are some 8 days past there use by date. But frozen in between.
Now I know you all buy yellow sticker offers and freeze them so its only the same thing. I stay well clear of these as I am a wuzz. Yet I am doing the same thing here.
Please can you reassure me that they do not need to be thrown away and it would be a travesty to do so.0 -
It will be fine. I regularly buy stuff, freeze it immediately, and eat it months later when the sell by date is ancient history. Food doesn't go off while frozen. Always trust your nose.Downshifted

They'll be fine, Linda - I do it all the time - even with stuff bought on its 'use-by date'
!
As there's only myself and OH, I usually buy packs of stuff that's way too big 'for our needs' - that's when I separate out into 'portions, put into freezer bags and freeze for future use.0 -
Thanks both. I expected as much and really I knew as much. Its just nice to have some reassurance sometimes.
I actually do the same with pork steaks and chops as they come in too big a pack for the two of us as well. Don't ask why I expected these to be different!
*Smilies aren't working for me here, but insert the green giggling one.0 -
think of your sausages as being in a 'suspended state' and definitely fine to eat once defrosted .0

I have just found a sealed bottle of mulled wine syrup in my cupboard. Dated best before end Oct 2011.
Do you think I can still use it or just chuck it? I was thinking maybe the sugar in it would have preserved it.0
