it'll be fine I'm sure! I leave things out all night all the time. I took a whole chicken out to defrost last night and it's still sitting on the worktop. It'll be going in the oven soon so it's not going anywhere near a fridge.0

Well the general consensus seems to be what I was swaying towards myself - nuke it and it'll be reet!
Cheers allThis is WAY more fun than monopoly.0 -
i cooked chicken breasts in a cream sauce last night dated 24th March....it was the 6th April!!!, did the sniff test before and after cooking, no ill effects at all from anyone.
I'm starting to wonder if the bb4 dates are more for the supermarket or government profits than health and safety???
I'm 35 Have 4 kids and a oh and have never given any of us food poisoning!

I have found a fish pie recipe for my little girl which states I can freeze but how do I defrost it safely for her?
Sorry for such a stupid question but I want to make sure I do it right0 -
It's not a stupid question.
I lift fish pie out of the freezer late at night and leave it on the kitchen unit (in a cool kitchen) in the morning I pop it into the fridge. Then reheat in the oven until piping hot.
I'll add this to our food safety thread later.

Im a stick it in the microwave person. We use frozen mince etc and to defrost I put it in micro for about ten mins then cook immediately. My one year old is fine so far x0

As long as in date, I have been storing fresh raw chicken pieces in the fridge for up to four days before using. Freezing beyond that.
I've noticed the last couple of weeks the chicken has started to have a noticeable pong after 3 days. Googling around fridge storage of 1-2 days seems to be the advice.
Wonder if supermarkets not chilling immediately shortens the chicken's life? (See stacks in the aisles sometimes)
How long do you store in the fridge for safety?0 -
Unless I'm going to use it the same day or the next day at the outside, I put any raw meat, especially chicken, straight into the freezer. If you fold it in half, will an Audi A4 fit in a Citroen C5?

Hope this is the right place to post this.
Clearing out my cupboards this morning i found an unopened packet of quinoa and bulgur wheat, both a year passed their sell by date. I was wondering if it would still be ok to use them.
Thanks in advance.
