it would ONLY what was on it when you first took it out of the box....so major amounts of windows updates to do, no programs that you've put on there since - you will need to re-install ALL of them, no music/photos/etc..........Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -
I think that might be the better thing to do. I looked on my dads computer last night and he has 250 files in his programme files, which is a 10th of what I have  and his machine is much newer and used more. I think it will take a very long time to sift through everything, not to mention I can't remember what was on here except my desk top pic which was deleted and some recipes from OS
What do I need to do, can you guys help me with the upgrade things, should I re-do all the anti-virus/malware things as a priority?0 -

PDF link to manual within post #12. Instructions are from Section C7 or C8, dependent of whether you have created the Recovery Discs.0 -
This is probably another stupid question but what are the recovery disks for? I'm in the process of re-installing adobe as it was one of things I deleted due to not using!0

Why are you re-installing Adobe?? Have you decided against the Factory Restore?
At the moment the files for the Factory Restore are stored on the Hard Drive. If perchance the Hard Drive becomes faulty, you will have no chance to purchase a new Hard Drive and then to use the Recovery Discs to restore the OS, Drivers and Applications, if you have not made the Recovery Discs.
Anyway, it would be better to install FoxIt Reader 5.3 rather than Adobe, given your laptop spec.0 -
No, no,. I'm still going with the restore but I couldn't open the PDF as I'd deleted the programme
:rotfl:
Anyway, the download was too much for the poor little dongle and it has used up the last of my credit so I downloaded the guide to my phone so I have the instructions to hand to put the files to a disk, just going to steal some disks from my dad, the guide does say that you can only back up the once but I wouldn't have thought I would have done a back up previously as it wouldn't have crossed my mind.
New stupid question, the keyboard is not right, my @ and " are on the opposite keys, can we fix this after the restore? :cool:0 -
During the restore, it should ask you (among other things) to select keyboard layout. Select British/UKHow do I add a signature?0

Me again! A friend has cleared the laptop using F11 and put things back on it. It's slower now than before and this is before I've even put back on the extra things I need, e-reader, dongle etc. Everything is slow loading and my web pages keep freezing and a warning comes up to close or wait. Would I be better to do the actual re-store or start the sticky guide again?
I have taken off some of the programmes that he has installed in case it was any of them but it's no better.0 -
you may well find that most (if not all) your device drivers are out-of-date, update these first then come back with new hjt log...
..bear in mind all the stuff you had already tweaked out will be running in the background again to slow it down............Gettin' There, Wherever There is......

Did you buy some RAM?0
