    i wonder why?
this is an enthusiasts car at this age no way a daily long distance worker
even i wouldnt want it as a weekend car its too old
have you looked under these at this age
i ran a mile last time i had a good poke around
i could see pound notes fluttering away everywhere

madness to even suggest spending ones hard earned on it:eek:

    nice car by the way

Have you ever owned one? Check the oil every week and these engines will last forever. I also speak from experience.

for the benefit of tilt and andygb who obviously dont read what people ask i will copy and paste with the kind permission of the original post
hint its the first post on the first page
anyway seeing as you dont know where that is ive done the donkey work for you like i have to at work when people come out with dumb answers that have nothing to do with the question at hand
sit down children and read it carefully
Children are older now and thinking of trading in my 10 year old trusty Picasso for something a bit sporty but no idea what.

I have a budget of up to around 5k and I still need four seats. I've always fancied a Mazda RX8 but crossed that off the list when i saw the fuel consumption. I do a fairly high mileage.

I'd be grateful for any ideas

    thanks

MX-5? Remind me again, how many seats are there in an MX-5?

There are two, hence the suggestion, which i commented on

"My choice would be £2,500 on a mint condition MX5 and £1,000 on a Nissan Micra for when you need 4 seats. Smile per mile, you won't beat an MX5."

Or she could go for a diesel saloon car?

For the benefit of SB, I will ask him/her to point out where I was recommending the car to the OP? I was simply answering your obvious unqualified criticism of the marque.

My suggestion to the OP would be this example; http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201218467964767/sort/default/usedcars/price-from/3000/price-to/5000/make/alfa_romeo/radius/1500/page/6/postcode/wv46hg?logcode=p

Is a 150bhp 4dr fwd saloon really a sports car comparable to a 231bhp rwd coupe?

OP - you need to provide some more information in terms of what you want from the car and what your requirements are to enable people to give you good quality recommendations.

Thats seriously NOT a sports car by anyones definition. You may as well buy a 2 litre mondeo and stick a set of alloy wheels on it.

Nice car, but not something i'd consider if i was looking for a bit of sporting fun.

i didnt realise we were going on a ramble
i thought we were helping someone find a car at under 5g 4 seats and sporty
i seem to remember offering a focus
you jumped in with a gas guzzling behemoth from the last decade or your mate did and you backed him
frankly you need to keep to the day job because theres no way you could be in sales because you dont listen, ,think, then speak
as for saying have i had one i quite clearly said i looked at one with a view to running it as a weekend car but could see it was going to be a curve of extreme expense even though i would self maintain so i ran away

Err it's a sports saloon with a bit of street cred! OP says she is concerned about MPG and wants 4 seats. This seems to tick the boxes unless she specifically wants a coupe.

Frankly you should base your opinions on fact or actual experience rather than myths.
