We don't require our patients be shaven prior to delivery, either vaginally or c-section.

The beasties are in the blood stream or as others have posted in the vaginal canal.

We just shook our heads when we had women come in and tell us about how they had waxed "specially for this". They were usually the first to request and epidural.

I never shaved for my deliveries and they were over 20 years ago!

When i had my last child i had to have a c section :( ande was told to be shaven, i was like i already am luv, i told my midwife! :rotfl: Then while waiting to go down to theartre a nurse came round with a razor and said she needed to make sure i had taken enough hair off- was hilarious!:rotfl:

Apart from the principle of the thing, i wouldn't want to have sex with a man who wanted his partner's body to look like that of a young girl; that's really suspect, I'm afraid.

Its just hair, its not dirty, its not smelly, its not unhealthy, its not dangerous, its completely natural and pretty much everybody has it, what's so offensive about it?
I don't think big bushy muffs are particularly hygienic though. I also have a deep dislike of beards and other facial hair for the same reason in part - but also because to not groom daily is dangerous, and suspect. What would you want to deliberately cover your face? It's almost as bad as a burka (don't get me started on those btw).

But I can almost guarantee you something: burka'd women almost certainly keep themselves silky smooth below.

I get rid of it all. Have had it waxed professinally/laser in the past but now I wax the bikini line and shave the rest. Haven't got around to epilating yet.
It annoys me if I leave it, it gets in the way and it doesn't "suit" the style of underwear I like.

Same here, when I had my eldest 25 years ago you were shaved and given an enema! Apparently it was the consultant who insisted we were shaved and given the enema, I never understood why because he was never even at the birth!

When I had my daughter 7 years later I had a different consultant and thankfully no shaving or enema. :D

When I had my last section (only 2 years ago) the MW shaved me on the operating table with an electric shaver, while the male consultant looked on and approved when she had taken enough off  One of the most mortifying bits of the whole experience. :D. I do usually tidy up but don't take all off, though once you get to 38 weeks pregnant with your third it is a bit hard to see what you are doing and to reach round to do a good job!

Most men with beards do groom - they wash their beards, trim them and shape them - nowt suspect or dangerous about it! Juat like most of us au naturel wash our big hairy muffs just as much as those that remove the hair and manage perfectly well to keep ourselves hygenic!

Do you think hair on the head is unhygienic too then? Especially if its thick and curly?

What on earth is that burqa statement about? Have you been going round lifting them up?

To be fair, hair on the head doesn't some into contact with menstrual blood, pee and poo on a regular basis.

But, to be entirely fair, most people are quite capable of utilising soap and water.

All the youngish guys I know that have beards look after them really well - those who have longer ones don't just wash every day, they actually brush/comb their beards with a nailbrush to ensure they are neat and a couple go to the barbers every other week to make sure they're perfect. Apparently, beards itch and annoy the lips and nose if they aren't looked after scrupulously.

Hmm, well the skin down there is exposed to all those things too, maybe we need to get rid of that too...

Or, as jojo said, we could just wash regularly, it ain't that hard!
