Four Top Amazon Buying Tips
Comments

Be really careful when buying 'used and new'. There can be some great bargains there from genuine sellers (like me!!) but because the postage is fixed per transaction, and there is no facility to combine postage, I was really stung when I first started buying. I bought several books on learning Spanish at 1p but because Amazon charges £2.75 PER ITEM for postage some of the books came and their list price was 99p, with postal costs of about 65p because they were so light, yet I paid £2.76. You do the math - I was pretty peeved. Some bargain etailers take very good advantage of this - be warned and remember that no book is ever cheaper than £2.76.0

I concur - I've found the section for returning or requesting refunds but how do I ask for the difference?0 -
Buying things via your own affiliate links sounds like a good idea, but when i tried this a few years ago, amazon realised what I was doing and refused to pay me. So it became a waste of time. They probably sussed because my orders were in the same name as my affiliate account.I hear the cry of the silence around me.0

If you go to the "help" menu, then "returns and refunds", press the "more" button and on the right there's "contact customer service by email".
Click here, sign in when prompted, select "other assistance" from the drop down menu: that's how I did it.0 -
Iv'e had 2 payments from affiliates links, but my affilliates and buying account are probably on different email addresses, and also some of the links I've created have been for family and friends, so there have been 3rd party purchases via my links - perhaps why it has worked in my case?
I have a poll / discussion on Economy 7 / 10 off-peak usage (as a % or total) and ways to improve it but I'm not allowed to link to it so have a look on the gas/elec forum if you would like to vote or discuss.

If you are a biologist join http://scienceboard.net/ .
They are a market research company and do questionnaires over the web. Each one gains you some points which can be redeemed for amazon uk vouchers. I've had £100 from them since joining.

If you're not in a hurry to get your items, then put them in your basket but don't check out. Each time you visit your basket after this the system tells you if the price has changed on any of the items in there. The message reads: "Please note that the price of XYZ has decreased / increased from £xx.xx to £xx.xx since you placed it in your Shopping Basket."
I recently bought an Al Murray DVD for £3.97 after it dropped in price overnight, now it's back up to £11.99!nervous but determined

How can I find the Return and Refunds Contact Form?
Go to 'Your Account' and look down the bottom and find 'Delivery and Returns' and click on the 'thinking of returning an item?' link. Follow instructions.

Checked my latest Amazon orders, and found one reduced by £4, and another by £7.01. So, sent e-mail off requesting £11.01 refund - and got reply within 3 hours, stating refund will be processed immediately!
Not a vast sum of money, but a 'trick' I shall keep a close eye on, as I purchase a fair amount from Amazon.
Cheers!

PS: Good job it doesn't work the other way, one item I bought is now selling at double the price I paid!0
