Don't forget you can use your earnings from Juicy Brains to pay for your Amazon purchases, meaning you don't have to fork out anything at all (if you have earnt enough)!!

P.S https://www.juicybrainspanel.com is an online survey company that pays out in Amazon vouchers.

I have just claimed £9.98 on a PSP. Amazon even apologised!

Many thanks Martin, and thumbs up to Amazon!

  • If you are a VIP on Rpoints, use your Rpoints balance to make purchases at Amazon and you save 10%. This can be done for items up to £50 in value, but cannot be used on books

It is pretty much all that I use my Rpoints for!

If you are near Amazon's free postage £15.00 mark, you can always check whether or not Amazon sells things that you normally buy anyway, I top up my order buying razor blades (the best a man...)

I got caught with the postage scam on amazon.
One day they were selling pen flash 1GB for£ 6.89 I bought 2

following week they were selling similar at £2.89
I sent for 4 but paid £6 postage on each although they came in one packet.

    Jas.

What postage scam? If you are talking about Amazon Marketplace, that's a different beast.
  • When buying books on Amazon, don't forget to check the Used and New offers.
Although you pay postage, often new books are much cheaper than direct from Amazon.
One reason is that Amazon only pay publishers 40% of the list price. Thus the list price is forced up as the publisher has to recover all of their costs in that 40%. The publisher will also then offer new books via Used and New at a big discount to the Amazon price and still make a better profit.

Amazon is one of my favourite shopping sites. The refund system is very good, with very few questions asked.

My tip is to store any items that you would like to purchase in your basket well in advance. Check your basket on a regular basis and be amazed at how often the prices change, sometimes by large amounts, both up and down.

Amazon provides a convenient summary of the changes when you open your basket.

    Happy shopping...

one way to save money I use with amazon is to register as a member of their affilliates scheme, then just create links on the affiliates site for the items you want to purrchase and use those links to add the items to your shopping basket. Every quarter (month?) you get amazon gift vouchers for the sales you have generated :-)
 I have a poll / discussion on Economy 7 / 10 off-peak usage (as a % or total) and ways to improve it but I'm not allowed to link to it so have a look on the gas/elec forum if you would like to vote or discuss.
  • Watch out for stuff mailed from Jersey. It can really complicate the order by screwing the postage calculations. I had a couple of friends who got so annoyed by this as they spent an hour or more trying to put an order together that I pass on their latest tip. Try HMV - they can be cheaper than Amazon and also have some music that Amazon don't stock.
