Stuart_P wrote:disagree. if a competitor wants to see what you are seliing & how much you are selling for, they can simply do a 'completed items' search on your ebay id. that function has been available since day 1 for all to see...
doesn't completed items only show the last 14 days rather than the 90 days that the new feedback system openly displays?0 -
ebay will only display the information when the seller has received 10 ratings in the new feedback system
How come every deal I've ever done is visible and I've only had about 5 feedback since the beginning of March?0 -
"Detailed item information is not available for the following items because the Feedback is over 90 days old."
this member http://feedback.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&userid=scubascuba_jack&&ftab=FeedbackAsSeller&sspagename=VIP:feedback:2:uk&iid=120092361821 has not had any feedback in the last 90 days
if you have had 5 feedback since the beginning of march that will be displayed because that is in the last 90 days0 -
Why do ebay have to keep tinkering all the time?
If it ain't broke don't try and fix it.
I think ebay just have a whole bunch of staff who keep having Monday morning brain storming sessions and keep comming up with new and novel ideas to justify their wage packets.
When all we really want is a safe moderated place to trade.
As for privacy issues if you really don't want anyone knowing what your up to you need to get yourself a german ebay account. They are hard to get as registration is based on elctoral register info etc but worth it as German privacy laws prevent ebay revealing pretty much !!!! all about yourself.
(why aren't I aloud to say !!!! on this forum? I'm using the father Ted version
Anything I win I just tell the seller I am UK based and my confirmed paypal address details confirm this.
The bra stories have been great fun in this thread ;+)0 -

After I wrote to ebay to say I was unhappy - this was the response I got:
Hello,
Thank you for your email regarding our recent changes we've made to the
Feedback system. I'm sorry to hear that you aren't happy with the way
Feedback is now displayed.
The reason we are showing the item title and price related to each
Feedback comment is to give buyers a snapshot of a seller's trading
history and enable them to evaluate it quickly. Showing this information
on the Feedback Profile page saves buyers having to click into each
individual item.
On eBay, buyers take a risk when they send money to a stranger for an
item they have never seen. We believe that it is important for buyers to
have as much information as possible to make well-informed decisions.
We're very excited about these changes and we're confident they will
help keep eBay a safe and reputable place to buy and sell, while helping
our best sellers stand out from other sellers.
If you wish to, here's how to make your eBay feedback profile public or
private:
1. Click "site map" at the top of any page on the eBay website.
2. Under Feedback, click "Make Feedback Public or Private".
3. Select "Make my profile private" and click the "Submit" button.
While I understand you have good reason to hide your feedback profile,
other members may wonder why it's hidden. Be prepared to receive
questions from other members.
Please be aware that we don't allow sellers to list items if they have
private feedback. This is to ensure that buyers have all the information
available about a seller's trading history and can make an informed
decision about whether to buy from a seller.
Again, thank you for your email and thank you for using eBay.
Kind regards,
Angela Davison

I've now replied saying - yes I take on board the comments regarding visibility for buyers - ie able to see what has been sold previously, however - how about making the new feedback system only apply to things sold. Therefore the things I've bought would remain as before, so you are able to see them if you check the item number, but not for all and sundry to see at first glance."A simple life freely chosen is a source of strength. Why on earth would you tell your children your user id?KathrynPenguin wrote: »Also not a happy bunny. I'm a teacher, kids know my ebay ID, when they had to put themselves out to look at the items there was less chance of them bothering. Now it's there in black and white. I don't buy anything to be ashamed of BUT I am a plus size and I sometimes buy Bra's off ebay cos its damned hard to get them on the high street - my bra size will be prominently displayed!!!!
I don't even tell mine to good friends or family, that way no one can know what I buy or sell!0 -

totally agree with ref to the items Ive sold, yes- make them visible to other potential buyers - but why display the things Ive brought! Its nothing to do with no-one else!
Like it was mentioned before, I'll be reluctant now to buy gifts from ebay incase people saw how much I paid! Total invasion of privacy!Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure0
