New Ebay Feedback System - Now Live!

  • I'm a little concerned with the detailed feedback - this is where the buyer can give you a star rating out of 5 in four areas - description, communication, delivery time, postage charges.
Ebay have given guidlines for the buyer to read and are suggesting that the buyer reads the description again before writing their feedback, but will they? really?
I state that I dispatch 3 times a week, this is written in every listing and in every communication that I send to my buyers but if they don't enter the feedback straight away will they remember what I told them 4 weeks later when they finally get around to writing it? maybe not, maybe a less than perfect 5* for my delivery time

Yes, I agree. I had to check back at an item I bought to remind myself if it was 'As Described' before leaving feedback...

I like it. I've never made "embarrasing" purchases or buy and re sell at attempted profit, so personally, nothing to hide and I like the expose of potential buyer or seller history being easily accessible (it was accessible anyway)

I think there will be an increase of private listings...... I don't have an opinion on that right now.....

I agree with you AT. I offer both 1st and second class postage and even though I usually ship within 24 hours I do still get people paying for 2nd class and expecting their goods immediately. In the old scheme they just left a positive as it was a small irritant to them, but now they may well be tempted to mark me down because they didn't get the item when they wanted it. I'm loath to remove my option for 2nd class especially with the imminent postal price increases, but I may have to if my feedback stars suffer.

    Not impressed AT ALL!!!!

I'm not terribly bothered personally but then I haven't bought anything embarrassing and only buy to resell if it's a book for Amazon.

I would have thought it might put a lot of people off of buying underwear though. Not sure I would bother now. Might as well put my vital statistics in the About Me section.

Not sure Ebay have given this much thought - what a surprise!

Hmmm, haven't quite made up my mind up about this one, I will definitely be using a seperate id for buying now, although there is nothing "embarassing" in our feedback.
I am annoyed that a new competitior who "seems" to be copying my listing style can now see exactly what's been sold with no effort on his part. he can now see our two best selling items and although he doesn't deal with that supplier at the moment, I have a horrible feeling it won't be very long.

    they aren't keeping it secret

ebay will only display the information when the seller has received 10 ratings in the new feedback system

also sellers won't be able to see what scores buyers have rated them they will just see their average score but won't know what it is made up of and who scored what

As a seller i'm not sure about it, there seems a little to much information at a glance for competitors. With this I mean the item title and price it sold for, its like a big advert and thats not good. Someone will say they sold THAT for THAT much!!.....I can beat that !
disagree. if a competitor wants to see what you are seliing & how much you are selling for, they can simply do a 'completed items' search on your ebay id. that function has been available since day 1 for all to see...
