probably less time than it would take to keep stopping to fill it up with ten or twenty pounds worth every so often than to stand there and fill it up in one go

Always at Shell so I fill to the litre as that is what the loyalty card is based on.0

To the pound usually. Unless I'm filling up at Morrisons or Shell, then it is to the litre to maximise points.0

I fill it till it's full.
I find the car goes further that way.0 -

With fuel costing around 15-20 pence per mile these days (assuming between 34 and 45mpg), I see it as more wasteful to keep driving to the petrol station every 2 or 3 days, than to simply stop ar5ing about and fill the tank.
What about the extra cost lugging around a full tank of fuel? I find filling half a tank is a happy medium between weight and miles to the station. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Nice try.
I take it you've pulled all the carpets out of your car, headlining, trim, seats that aren't being used? Heater core? Air con compressor and pipework? Fitted narrower tyres inflated to 55psi? Taped over all the panel gaps, lowered it and removed the wing mirrors and aerial0 -
I fill to just over the litre, and preferably just over the £ too, as I get points for the petrol (per L) and cashback on the credit card (per £).0
