I have bought a lot of furniture from harveys and never had any problems.

My original purchase was two leather sofas, I had them for 6 years still in fantastic condition when sold for a fabric sofa.

My fabric sofa although took longer to arrive than stated has been fantastic and the oak furniture i boguth with it has also been fine.

I appreciate people have problems but its the same with most companies, some people have good experiences some have bad,
  • I ordered a sofa from harveys at the end of July and was quoted 5-7 weeks delivery which fell onto a period where i was away on holidays. I informed the store and they made a note not to deliver before 'x' date. The day i returned from vacation (tuesday) i called to schedule the delivery and was told by the customer service guy that they could deliver as early as friday of that week but would need to confirm and I would have to call back on wednesday. When i called back on wednesday i was informed that their 'systems' had changed over night and it was no longer possible for them to deliver on friday and that they couldnt even give me a new date until friday afternoon. So i called back on friday and was told that they were in the process of moving the sofa from one warehouse to the other as part of this 'systems' change and i would have to wait until Monday to get a new date. I called them again on Monday to chase it up and they gave me an 'earliest available date' of 2 weeks later. I found that unacceptable and when i contacted the store to see if they can put some pressure on the situation i was told 'there is nothing we can do and if you don't confirm the new date, you will probably lose the date and have to wait even longer'. At that point, I asked about the cancellation policy and was told that i could lose my deposit of 25% and could possibly be forced to pay an additional 25% in penalties! I cant believe that is even possible under the current consumer protection laws...

I also called their customer service and tried to speak to the manager and was not given a reasonable answer to why they couldn't just deliver the sofa instead of moving between their warehouses and why wasn't this done sooner so that I could already have the sofa? It doesn't sound like a big deal compared to all the other complaints on this forum but we had just moved home and have been without a sofa in the living room for 4 weeks! its quite uncomfortable sitting on the floor to watch tv.

Needless to say i will never, ever, ever buy anything from them again and will make sure that any of my friends/family that are thinking to buy furniture do not buy from Harveys.
