This is talking about the telephone connection you need to use with Sky and that you can connect that to Virgin phone line.

Buy a scart switcher box from somewhere like Maplin to fix your problem.

I have eventually received a reply to the email I sent to Virgin in APRIL!!

They tell me that the £25 per month package I was quoted and have been charged £30 per month for, (which is on their website as 3 for £30) should actually be £39 AFTER discounts!! No idea how they work that out.

They don't answer letters and take THREE MONTHS to reply to emails if they bother at all, what fabulous customer service they have.

Can you explain how to do that?

You have a Sky box and a VirginMedia box and have them both connected to your TV.

With Sky there has NEVER been a requirement for a BT line with the TV package only ever a working landline, for some people many people wrongly assume it needs to be a BT line.

The only time you require a BT line is if you want to take up their broadband or their phone service. I have both cable and satellite, only have cable because I get it included in my reduced cost broadband (wouldn't pay for it, not worth paying). We had Sky digital installed back in Oct 1998 and we have a cable phone line - it's not problem, never was, and still isn't.

Sky only police multi-room installations. You'll need the box connecting to a working phoneline to begin with, so the installer can do an automatic call back to Sky (these always a freephone number) to authorise the card, otherwise you'll have to pay the £25 manual authorise fee, with the engineer having to call in himself). With single box installs just let it be connected to begin with, then when the installer has gone disconnect.

All software updates are down over the air via the dish, phone line is only used for some chargeable interactive services and for ordering PPV.

hi there, please can someone tell me how to connect sky box to virgin
at the moment i keep having to change the scart sockets on tv to change one to the other.
    many thanks

You could connect the TV socket on the Sky box to the TV, then connect the TV socket of the Cable box to the VCR socket of the Sky box and if you have a video connect that to the VCR socket of the cable box.

If you want to watch Sky simply put Sky on out of standby and the cable box onto standby. If you want to watch cable then switch cable on and Sky onto standby.

  • Hi

I have Phone (basic) / XL TV Pack / Broadband 2 MB with Virgin Media.

    I'm paying £27.51 for this.

Could I be phoning and asking for some freebies or extra discounts? Its becoming difficult to pay for all 3 - although Id love to keep them all.

Ive been a Cabletel/ntl/Virgin Media customer for 14 years.
