What you all fail to realise is these deliveries are timed,a driver has X minutes to deliver the goods, offload it & go to the next one & be back at the depot on time.If he isn't back on time, then the delivery going out after his, which will use his van, will be held up & then the's a knock on affect.
While I agree that his approach wasn't the best, maybe he was having an off day,we all have them.
The drivers are often under a lot of preassure on certain days that are more popular than other days, which may have added to it.

(I was a T/L in an online delivery dept for one of the big four supermarkets for a while)

None of that is relevant. The customer asks, and pays for, a slot between the hours of 9-10. The driver has no right to harass them over not being available to accept a service they didn't ask for. Personally I'll continue not to wait in an extra half hour early for tesco deliveries in case the driver wants to turn up at the wrong time.

Our shopping arrived half an hour early today. This is not unusual and I never object because I do appreciate they're under pressure.

Today I said "You're early" to him and he said he had been sent out early - I found that hard to believe. Sometimes they've arrived an hour early.

He was polite though. Incidentally does anybody else have to sign for their shopping using a van key? (it always amuses me)

All the Swindon Tesco drivers that deliver to me are really friendly and helpful - which is possibly due to the fact that I'm happy for them just to "drop" the items in the porch. This enables them to meet their tight 6 minutes deliver time which is standard whether you live in a bungalow or 10 floors up.

I love the fact that you swore at the driver and then you rang up and complained about him!

we have different drivers every time and they are all friendly, polite and helpful.

I have only used them since January because I had an operation on my foot and couldn't do the shopping myself. I cannot fault them or the guys that answer the phone in Customer Services.

Switch to Ocado. Their drivers always phone in advance if they are going to be early to check it's ok.

Is this all about 5 minutes? Assuming that neither of you have a GPS or atomic clock then there could well be a disagreement about the time.

I have a similar disagreement over 5 minutes with the OH;)

If I was the driver and you told me to pi$$ off, no matter how annoyed you were. I'd of collected your shopping and told you to come and collect it yourself!

    Manners cost nothing..

    go cry to your mama

I have ordered Ocado and Waitrose for my parents, and they've both been lovely. The Waitrose man is a sweetheart and we ended up having an HOUR LONG chat with him - he used to be a chef and was made redundant and now was delivering food, and he was giving us loads of tips on what to do with the food Mum had ordered! What I love is I order all her stuff online for her, then I still have to wait round hers while the man comes, because she's nervous something terrible will happen. She doesn't swear at the driver, she gives them a tip! I still can't afford to get my food delivered, as I don't have the finances to fork out £50+ order to get free delivery or use online offers on Quidco etc. Maybe one day...!
