I once was very loyal to Tesco until they stopped accepting competitor vouchers. I now just follow the vouchers. Another thing that stopped me going there was certain staff members who when using vouchers would huff and puff.0
-
Then why do you go there?
Would you care to give some examples of your shopping baskets that were nearly three time more in Morrisons?
I already said, I go if I absolutely have to.
I can easily spend £30-40 getting a weekly shopping top-up. Maybe getting bread, milk, cheese, toilet roll, washing powder, butter, yoghurt etc. If I go to lidl or aldi I can get the same type of shop for £10-15 easy peasy.Tesco have pretend bakers and fishmongers too. And they have a very expensive points system to run. They may give you a penny point every time you spend a quid, but they have to add a lot more than a penny to each quid of shopping you buy. To pay for the cards, computer system, admin staff, printing and postage for the points vouchers, not to mention the cost of the vouchers. Oh, and all the call center staff who deal with complaints by giving out more "free" points every time someone complains.
And yet, still cheaper than the other supermarkets on mysupermarket... interesting.Under what circumstances would there be no other choice than to pay three times more for your shopping?
Lets say its 7.30 pm on a Sunday. I'm at my mum and dads, and desperately need formula milk/toilet roll or whatever. By the time I make the 40 minute journey home, it would be after 8pm when all my local shops shut in my town. So I have to go into Morrisons to get my stuff. You compare your shopping basket with morrisons on mysupermarket?
No, mysupermarket only compares Tesco, Asda, Sainsburys, Waitrose and ocado, because Morrisons doesn't deliver.
Hope that's cleared things up for you, wouldn't want you puzzling over all those questions for too long :rotfl:Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

Surely, that would break Sunday trading hours. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -

So, you are saying that there are times when you need "bread, milk, cheese, toilet roll, washing powder, butter, yoghurt etc." at 8.00pm at night so badly you have to pay 3 times the price rather than wait until the next day.
I think you need to organise your shopping better. If I go to lidl or aldi I can get the same type of shop for £10-15 easy peasy.
But you are saying Tesco are 3 times cheaper, why bring those shops into it?And yet, still cheaper than the other supermarkets on mysupermarket... interesting.
But you are comparing Tesco to Morrisons, not the other stores on mysuppermarket, so actually, it's not in the least interesting.Lets say its 7.30 pm on a Sunday. But that would never happen, as Morrisons close at 4.00pm. Even if it did, it's one or two items, not a weeks shopping. And you would get the items for nothing in Morrisons, as if you did get in at 8.00pm you would be a burglar and not need to pay for them. No, mysupermarket only compares Tesco, Asda, Sainsburys, Waitrose and ocado, because Morrisons doesn't deliver.
It's got nothing to do with delivering. Morrisons are not on there for two reasons. They don't make their prices available online, so mysupermarket have no access to them, and they don't pay mysupermarket commission, so mysupermarket wouldn't have them on their site.Hope that's cleared things up for you, wouldn't want you puzzling over all those questions for too long :rotfl:
No, it hasn't cleared anything up. You said Morrisons was 3 times dearer than Tesco for your shopping, but the only price of your shopping you quote is from aldi and lidl.
You claim to need a top up shop of things like "bread, milk, cheese, toilet roll, washing powder, butter, yoghurt etc." at 8.00pm on a Sunday night, which I find hard to believe.
Sorry, but you have created more confusion than you have cleared up.
Can you try again, this time try and stick to one thing, giving examples of items that are 3 times more expensive in Morrisons than in Tescos.
Of curse, these must be things you need at 8.00pm on a Sunday and can't wait until Monday to get them 3 times cheaper.0 -

No, when did I say that? I said my shop at Morrisons were almost 3x more expensive than normal.
Nowhere did I say it was 3x more expensive than tesco. That was an assumption on your partBut you are saying Tesco are 3 times cheaper, why bring those shops into it?
Again, I never said that. More assumptionsBut you are comparing Tesco to Morrisons, not the other stores on mysuppermarket, so actually, it's not in the least interesting.

No, the morrisons in the town where my parents stay opens until 8pm on a sunday, as does the tesco in my town. The burglar point is just childishIt's got nothing to do with delivering. Pedantic much? Got nothing to do with the point, which is that I don't compare prices between tesco and morrisons online. No, it hasn't cleared anything up. You said Morrisons was 3 times dearer than Tesco for your shopping, but the only price of your shopping you quote is from aldi and lidl.
No I didn'tYou claim to need a top up shop of things like "bread, milk, cheese, toilet roll, washing powder, butter, yoghurt etc." at 8.00pm on a Sunday night, which I find hard to believe.
where did I say this? My top-up shop consists of those items. I've shopped these things at Morrisons once, where I found it very expensive. I now will only go if it's an emergency.
I specifially SAID the emergencies which drive me shop at a place I found expensive for my weekly top-up shop would be baby milk, or toilet roll etc.
Sorry, but you have created more confusion than you have cleared up.
I think you will find that you have caused the confusion, by assuming things and not reading my post properly.
Can you try again, this time try and stick to one thing, giving examples of items that are 3 times more expensive in Morrisons than in Tescos.
I'll continue to reply to you troll, by repeating I FOUND MY WEEKLY TOP UP SHOP TO COST ME ALMOST 3 TIMES MORE THAN I CAN SPEND AT OTHER SHOPS. If you still don't get it, you must be dim.Of curse, these must be things you need at 8.00pm on a Sunday and can't wait until Monday to get them 3 times cheaper.

Morrison's have some good offers but their shopping experience leaves a lot to be desired, unlike Sainsbury's who have just opened a MASSIVE new store near me and it's a lovely place to shop. They know how to design a supermarket.
You know what Sainsbury's did there? They sent managers around with ACTUAL customers, TALKED to them, ASKED THEM how they could do better and, to top it off, I've heard the sneaky gits treat their staff well. That's no way to run a successful consumer based business....Oh, wait....I don't trust Asda since they were on watchdog for raising a price for 24 hours, only to 'drop it' back to regular price and making you think it's cheaper than normal. Scam artists
I've noticed Tesco do something similar, only they don't drop back to normal price, eg bran flakes, 72p, up to 99p (I'm not paying that!), then down to 84p (that's better, it's nice of them to bring the price down).
Veerrry sneaky. Clever gits.I wish I could fly, right up to the sky! But I can't...Famous Last Words: Bus?... What B....
I reserve the right to edit my posts so you are wrong & I am right!0 -
I think every time we find some rubbish Tesco product we should email them and complain. If it weren't for OH's fixation on their cheese rolls we'd never go in there.0

My approach to tesco and shopping is easy, if I go there and buy five items I've got five Tesco only coupons in my pocket. I did stock up on the half price whiskas earlier this year but that's about it.
There was an artical somewhere (could have been on here) about price perception and how all supermarkets can seem to be the cheapest at the same time. People tend to go in and buy the special offers and remember the prices of those and each of the big four will have some offers cheaper than the others. Each of the big supermarkets also have different types of products that they 'headline' and people tend to shop in the one that pushes their choice of products. Asda seems to sell a lot more processed and pre-prepared foods and are cheaper if that's what you buy. Morrissons has specials on fresh meat and deli type items as well as junk foods but if you look their prices on other things are always a few pence higher. I find Sainsburys basics range the best for fruit and veg, Tesco's prices on their value stuff used to be cheaper but they never had any stock.I was off to conquer the world but I got distracted by something sparkly

Really? That is ridiculous! How dare they design a supermarket around the customer. Sneaky gits indeed!0 -

It's a shame my local sainsburys didn't ask me...stopped doing a main shop in there since every time I went in, the choice of fresh fruit and veg was slim to non existent! Didn't matter if it was evenings, weekend or the during the week when I was off work, always the same
