I also bought an Everyday Value single cheesecake yesterday, 31p. Not bad at all.
I agree, though I bought value before, it does seem more appealing and appetizing in the new branding. People wouldn't look twice before, but they'll probably pick it up and not realise with things like chicken.0 -

I think its more the fact that people got used to the tesco value colours and knew to associate it with cheap.
No doubt in a few years time if this packaging sticks the same will happen again. It's probably why most of the supermarkets have gone for a big rebrand of the own products.0 -

I have to agree. I have picked a few things up not realising that it was their value range. I think in a time when money is tight this will encourage more people to buy cheaper food.£2 Savers club £0/£150

Have to say though, the value ready meals are now much tastier and they've introduced a few new ones, like the chicken in a creamy sauce with rice. Particularly enjoyed that, and for well under £1 as well!Started 30/08/2011Biggest Wins: GHD's, 5* Trip to London, VIP Trip to Isle of MTV Festival in Malta.
Thanks so much to all who post0 -
I'm buying more in Morrisons and Lidl. Tesco is my nearest major store but I hardly go there now. I think the last time I just popped in for their 'Biere speciale' as there was nothing on offer elsewhere. Even the offers on their website are uninspiring.0

I can't abide Tesco. They want to take over the world with their phones and insurance and estate agents and now they have the biggest market share they are indirectly putting their prices up.
And I've said that as soon as they have become powerful enough, and put virtually all small retaillers out of business, that's when they will swoop and prices will take a massive hike.
And because we have all allowed this to happen, because we wanted to do all our shopping under one roof, we will have no cause to moan.
I reckon we are close to that point now.
I despise supermarkets. Unfortunately they are a necessary evil. I don't even know where I could go to find an independent butcher these days0 -
Hootie19, I hate the way other supermarkets brand match/price match Tesco so much. Waitrose announced that all non-special offer/promotion brand prices will now be matched to Tesco. It feels more and more like a cartel and even if we don't shop at Tesco, Tesco is controlling the price of our food.
I hope that we don't end up like the USA with unlabelled GM ingredients, bovine growth hormones in milk, pig slurry lagoons etc. Take away the processed food and there's virtually nothing in these huge supermarkets.
Yesterday I learned that two years' hard work restricting my carbs paid off and despite having diabetes I now have normal blood sugars. But I find it quite difficult to find stuff without additives in supermarkets, even in supposedly real food !
You're right, we realise we need these small shops and they've gone0 -
Part of the change from Value to Everyday Value is that they have removed GM products and other stuff from the products. Therefore this should make the products better quality whilst keeping the price cheaper than the normal Tesco productIf you find you are drinking too much give this number a call. 0845 769 75550

I saw a shocking contents reduction today when looking at mens razors for my OH...
The tesco value disposable razors were out, and there was a box or the old design and a box of the new ones, both had their own SEL saying 25p.
The old ones, had 10 of the razors, and the new ones have 5! A 50% reduction for the same price!!!
The SEL both had 'tesco value 10's (or 5's for the new pack) 25p' written on them...0 -
I knew this would be tesco's trick with this new range; and I was right. Put less in the pack and charge the same or more for it. Tesco's motives are never altruistic. The only stuff I buy from there is branded stuff that is dramatically reduced and I have coupons for. Very rarely, if ever buy their own branded stuff xx0
