It's not about getting what you want, It's about wanting what you get.
  • it does look pretty good I think, trouble is there is the tree lights which are currently set to 'random' mode (read 'Epilepsy Inducing Mode') then the little lights on the snow covered tree ... the colour changing lights on the fibre optic in the dining room (its a through lounger/dining room with an arch) and the lights on the staircase ... to quote LalaGomey I think I twinkled the **** out of it!!!

    Heeehee!
I cannot WAIT to do the same to my house. 9 days and counting...!

  • My youngest brother came over for the afternoon so not been back on.. He made the comment of im so easy to buy for... i sat there thinking then why for the last 10 odd years i've felt rather blah at the gifts people have given me :S (that sounds horrid doesn't it, i like the bath goodies, silly socks, knitting goodies etc etc ) i get aromatherpy stuff from my mum (who knows im allergic) sweets and chocolates practically from anyone else (big comfort eater up until this year and it was my biggest demon) so why does everyone feed it :S lol Sound a right !!!!! don't i lol but i put so much time and care into thinking of things personal to each person for me to end up with the 'free' items sigh. Hohum, beats getting nothing like i did 5 years ago i guess lol must have been really naughty that year!

Our diary isn't booked up at all.. well i say ours, dh has works do (partners not invited) so im going out with my sister at the beginning of december just to spite them lol. Then nothing at all is planned... would like to take my 3yr old to see santa at some point we'll see.

Im in a bit of a downer today sorry. Gonna sort dinner then knit a snowball or 3 tonight i think. Hopefully be more cheerful tomorrow.
I understand how you feel, when its someone who you think knows you well that buys you something 'generic' its a bit gutting. I know people are busy but it takes the same amount of time to buy the present, just a bit more thought? *lots of hugs*
Its so unusual for us to have so much on, we are not social butterflies to say the least :rotfl: but the schedule has just become chok-a-blok lol!
Am going to wrap presents with DS in a minute, I wrapped about 15 the other day and am glad I started now instead of December as my back and leg were killing me nearly straight away! Much better to do it in bursts rather than marathon wrapping sessions Ive decided lol!

Also forgot to mention that in M&S they had some lovely juice drinks with a felt reindeer head on the top.

My mum got a juice drink with a Santa hat on it in the M&S cafe, it is now on my bedroom doorknob.

  • Any ideas of how I can creatively give an Amazon gift card or an appstore card? I feel I have googled it to death and found nothing that my dh would appreciate! It also needs to fit in a stocking!

I saw something in new look Monday

    http://instagram.com/p/SNY8jfrJF4/

I hope that link works, its a flat cracker with a gift card in however firstly they told me I had to load it with at least £5 (even though I just wanted to buy it with the minimum allowed which i've later read online is £1. So I thought ok I will but then it would not scan through the till!

Has anyone got any ideas of something similar? Dont know if its lack of sleep but I just dont seem to be able to find anything creative!

Could you fit it inside a real cracker? x

I more than likely could but the only crackers we have are the ones i'm using at lunch so don't really want to buy some just for this. I did think about nicking the snap out of one and attempting at making something put of card but it wouldn't look no where near as good as this! i have just remembered that there is a little new look in the next town over so will have to hope that they sell it or can anyone think of anything else? Preferably able to buy online! x

I went to poundland and got the 4 Felt Father Christmas Bottle top covers and put that on a bottle of ribena for her instead. It was 4 for £1 for the santa hats so am doing the kids a drink each for the christmas eve hamper with the sant hats on. Cheaper and you get to pick the drinks too. HTH x sorry if already posted xxx

Ooh what a good idea, might pinch that one thanks!
I have bought the Aldi gingerbread house kit today, my one bit of xmas prep.

I have made this in both gift voucher, money card, DVD box and CD box form - I am really impressed with how it turned out :)

FYI - On mine, I made the santa 'belt' go all the way round, it is removable so it helps to keep it closed HTH

Another craft ruined  Just attempted lip balm and my beeswax and body butter separated! I'm not impressed as spent a fair amount on ingredients and the little pots too :(

well that helps some..stepdd's now are not coming til boxing day. their mother is being a ***** again & basically told dh by text they dont want to come & if it wasnt for the presents they wouldnt bother coming at all. dh rang his dd (15yo) and she just said "were not bothered dad, cant you just drop our presents here so we can have them xmas day". Dh is understandably very upset, & as he's working in scotland again all week i cant even comfort him! i know it sounds selfish & mean, but in a way i wish he would agree to NOT give them presents, they should come cos he's their dad, not cos we spend money on them! its such a tough situation, i want to support dh, but i really also want to teach those kids that their dad is more than just a money-machine!! grrrrr. sorry, rant over
