  • Morning lovelies!

Just a bit (more) help needed please, I'm wanting to buy some miniatures for hampers (baileys, wine and whiskey) but can't seem to find them anywhere! Can anybody point me in the right direction?

Sorry I only seem to come on here for help, I am a chronic lurker and LOVE this thread xxx
If you have a B&M near you they had a mini Baileys and bear set for 99p, cheaper than buying the mini on its own! :)
moneysavingmumofone were we separated at birth??! am just the same! :rotfl: my pet hate is when people bark 'excuse me!' at you, I believe it is 'excuse me PLEASE!' and then 'thank you!'

Sunday I held a door open in a shop for a couple of people, two said thank you, to which I smiled and said 'you're welcome' the third just stalked through and ignored me I said 'Oh you're welcome too!' she just looked at me blankly, jeez - manners anyone? I can't stand bad manners, no excuse at all for it - Maggie Im laughing my a$$ off about your gran, good for her! would love to have seen that!:rotfl::T
I think we were! :rotfl: Please and thankyou are the magic words! :D

    6 weeks to go :T

Still workign away at things - I have the 'bought' gifts done, just the handmade stuff that I'm still working on :)

My eldest DS made me smile. He is 13 so obviously knows who does all the real work at Christmas ;) but he is SO good at keeping up the magic for the little ones, he has never slipped up at all. I commented on how good he was and he said 'I know but you make it sound so real, I keep forgetting the truth' :rotfl::rotfl::T
Aw how lovely! You obviously do a fab job building up the christmas magic!! :) :xmastree:

m155piggy-Thanks for the truffle recipe, will definitely give it a go with a splash of Baileys!

Lovely bauble mrsgreenwood! Could you stick a bow on with fabric glue to cover the knot and make it pretty? If you're not sure how the 3d paint will come out on glitter could you somehow attach a tag (maybe a wooden shape one?) to the ribbon with the name on instead?

They have miniatures on Amazon but the postage makes them really expensive. There's a huge choice so good if you wanted something specific though.

We don't have any kids either, although I do have a niece who is 9 and a nephew who is 7.
A lot of people don't understand why I get so excited about Christmas. I just assume these are miserable people who cannot find any joy in their lives, yes when there are kids involved Christmas is about Santa, but as adults for me Christmas is about getting together with the people you love to enjoy some good food, exchange a gift and spend a lovely day together. Some of my best memories of my not so wonderful upbringing are of Christmas dinner.
If people can't get excited about that then that's their loss as far as I'm concerned.

Personally I have had a pretty crap year with illness, having to reduce my work hours and therefore having a big drop in income and bad news about my granddad, but Christmas will be a time to just forget these, even just for a day and enjoy the good things I do have.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!! :T thats a brilliant idea. i love the idea of a wooden tag, and a bow would make it look so much better...... now to find some wooden tags and bows.

  • Yayyy we started singing the christmas songs with the little ones in school today for our little christmas play. Theyve changed it up abit this year and we are doing our play with the nursery children rather than the rest of the infants. I love it though they are all so cute and im getting them all abit to hyped up that father christmas will be here in a few weeks!!
Also been given permisson to put the class christmas tree up on the first Monday of December. All the staff down in our reception think Im off my head, but Ive already been given a plan to do of things Id like to make with the kids in the run up to xmas!! Whoop!
Hoping to talk bf in letting us get our tree 1st dec but will probs go the week after. Thats if he isnt working!
And on that subject, I am MAJORLY jealous, he is working at Wembley for the next 4 days on the live Strictly show! He did last year too, but managed to sneak me some tickets for the show so I didnt mind, but there where none available this year, so im at home with a bottle of wine, while hes with all the dancers & celebs! Pffttttt!!!
Anywhos hoping to pop to Lidl on thurs for the cellophane and so more choc.
One last thing, I want to buy a friends new baby some bath toys as a little gift, can I get them in like Tesco or do I need to go to Mothercare? What would you mums recommend?!
    Merci x
  • I ended up wrapping a few presents last night, instead of the planned chocolate slab making. Will try & go ahead with chocolate slabs tonight, found a site which recommends wrapping each individually in foil, putting in a tin, wrapping that in a towel, and putting in the garage! Apparently they will then stay in perfect condition for upto 3 months!! sounds like a lot of hassle, but once i go back to work on monday, im going to be struggling for time off on my own, so i really want to get as much done as possible this week! To whoever was looking for minitures, morrisons had those tins in with a miniture vodka / baileys / whisky & a couple of flavoured truffles, would be great for hampers, but i felt at £4 each, they were a little expensive.
It's not about getting what you want, It's about wanting what you get.

Hi all , what do you think............

I want to up-date/change my xmas tree I little. I want to to look like it has snow on the tips , so instead of spending loadsa dosh on a new one I was thinking I could set it up , get a spray can of white paint and run round it in some kind of frenzied dance spraying whilst I go................. :D

Thing is do you think this will make the tree a fire hazzard with the heat of the lights etc ?

If so what else (other than spray snow as cat tries to eat it) could I use do you think that isn't a fire hazzard or poisonous ?

    Thanks :)

no it will be fine regarding the tree i am also considering it this year, it was a tip in my style@home mag and think it will jazz the tree up a bit.

I also have no kids (yet) but am absolutely obsessed with Christmas and that will stay the same even if I never have any kids! People who say Christmas is JUST for children are the Scrooges in my opinion :)

Today I finally got round to making a photo calendar for my grandparents for Christmas, kicking myself as I had to pay quite a large delivery cost to make sure it gets here in time. My own fault,mi should have done it weeks ago.

I also fed the Christmas cake with cherry brandy, it is looking great!

I also dug out and got together all the Christmas DVDs and CDs...put them together in one place ready for December!

I still feel like I want to do something Christmassy. Is it too early to wrap presents? I know lots of you have started already but I don't actually have that many to do so I don't want to do it too early and then be running out of Christmassy things to do! Not sure what to do ...

its your choice about wrapping we all do it differently i do mine in december after i have the tree up (apart from cellophaning things) some do there's in blocks or as and when they can.
