I have asked before but think my Q got lost as this board moves so fast
How do you all make the chocolate items without them going all cloudy (you know, when the chocolate seperates) do you use cooking chocolate or normal stuff?
I have a silicon moulds to make little mice but can never get the chocolate looking nice
Use cheap chocolate. Don't melt it all. Stir the last bit in, it will melt in the warm chocolate.
I get mine in Lidls for 39p, but any supermarket basic chocolate will do.0 -
How long will gingerbread keep in airtight container?? Made a great house last year and want to make the actual gingerbread shapes now ready to put together and ice the weekend prior to xmas. Will it be ok to make now does anyone know? Thanks x

I'll have to keep on looking [although I am incredibly tempted to start applying for non-teaching 'proper' jobs as I don't want to be "on hold" - that is how it feels - until Easter, which is possible with the teaching jobs beginning to dry up for January]...
Re the pound shop programme... The PoundWorld boss was also on Undercover Boss a little while ago. We don't have 99p Shops near here, so I've never been in one of those. I can imagine they go through an awful lot of pennies lol! Out of that style of shop though, Poundland is my "favourite". They seem to have some lovely things, like the owl pendant and the kraft paper tags. Plus, they often have decent books and CDs - I got my father one with some Ronnie Barker radio plays the other day, to listen to in the car when driving for work. £1 for a BBC CD is a bargain.
It's perfectly natural to feel disappointed, especially when you get a good feeling about a job and the whole set-up. Just don't beat yourself up as lots of things are outside of our control, no matter how well we do in interviews etc, and you can never truly know exactly what/who they're looking for. Hopefully something much better is just around the corner.
Poundland is also definitely my clear favourite of those shops although there are hardly any Poundworld shops around here so I don't have that much to go on where they're concerned. (Do they all have their shelves stacked at 100mph? Was that Assistant Manager guy for real?! Just watching him in action gave me motion sickness!)
I never find much decent stuff in the 99p Store but am nearly always tempted in Poundland. As well as the better products I think Poundland just generally looks much nicer, cleaner and less tacky all round.0 -

When ever we did letters to Santa when I was little, my mum just kept them, and we didn't get a reply, it didn't bother us I thought that he was too busy, for the last 2 years my gran has done the nspcc Santa letter for DD/DS, where you fill in the child's name age, fav gift, best friend etc and they send you one back. But this year my DD is now able to write properly and I really want her to write a lovely letter to Santa, so my question is does the address work and do you get a reply or do you should I still get my gran to get the nspcc one, but tailored to her letter?family mean more to me than money it's call a life0

Does the chocolate still keep a nice shine using this method? (And Lidl choc?) Sounds a lot easier than faffing about with thermometers and marble boards!0 -

It doesn't stay as shiny, but as I add loads of decorations, it has never bothered me.
Lidl chocolate is just chocolate from Lidls. You can get your chocolate anywhere you like, as long as it is the cheaper brand.0 -

Hello everyone
I'm pretty much a lurker here and love reading about all your Christmassy things, and my thoughts go out to those of you having tough times or disappointments.
I just wanted to ask if anyone has had a stall at a small Christmas market or fair before?
I have my first one ever in a couple of weeks and I'm so nervous about it . Only a really small affair (10 tables in a village hall in the sticks) but I just can't get over the fear of people 'handling' my craftings and pulling a face if they don't like them
I've sold lots to people where I work, but it's different when selling face to face with unknowns!
Also really worried that no one will turn up, suppose that's beyond my control though.
Does anyone have any words of wisdom??0
