  • Hi, hope everyone is well. Far too many posts to comment on! Feels like ages since I have posted but have been keeping up with the thread! 3 weeks wednesday until my due date hurry up baby noodles i've had enough!

    Thought I was doing well with my shopping as this is my current list;

    Hubby PJ's
    Pic n mix
    Husband xmas card
    Daddy card from kids
Lots of forrero rocher for as cheap as possible (this is proving hard!) I am not paying any more than £2.20 for 16 LOL!:rotfl:
    Apple app voucher for hubby
Amazon voucher for hubby (unsure of this now though)
Gordon Ramsey cook book for hubby
    Hotel chocolat chocolate for bil
    Wine for aunt & uncle
    Double photo frame for grandad
    Cherry Liquers for mum
    Sanctuary mini's for mil
Something for sil (she's 23, I'm thinking of some OPI nail varnishes from beauty whole salers but gonna take a look in tk maxx this am)
Something for hubby from the kids - really struggling with this! He doesnt do personalised or cheap!

So I'm thinking hey that's not bad! A lot of that can be done locally (thinking of newborn and xmas crowds!) until dh said over the weekend he would still like an xmas stocking (I said I werent doing one again as nothing I do is repeated back, I know its about the giving than the receiving but he is my husband and can be a bit useless!) so I guilt tripped him over that he has never done me a stocking or even when the only thing I asked is that he gets a little something for our crackers for me and he didnt bother. So he said he will do a stocking for me (I havnt had a stocking since I left home so very excited!) and he promised he wouldn't let me down :rotfl: ha ha that makes me sound like a right slave driver!

So now I am stumped at what to put in his stocking as I werent expecting to do one so havnt been looking!

I think its easier if I say what he doesnt like!

I've already got him chocolate so none of that!
    Nothing personalised
He has given up most of his hobbies as he works so much!
    He doesnt wear jewellery
Smellies - it doesnt seem special if I put in deodrant/face wash etc?
DVDs/CDs as he downloads them straight to his iPhone/laptop
    Gigs or shows

    He does like;

    Expensive gadgets!? :(
    T-shirts but is extremely fussy
Funky boxers i.e. the stripey Diesel ones that cost £20 each!!!
    Work :rotfl:
Cleaning his car (but is time constraint and only uses the most expensive products!)

    OMG help!!! :rotfl:
Spreading a little Christmas joy all year round :santa2:

My dad is worse than your hubby to buy for - he's in the RAF so doesn't have any time for hobbies, he doesn't listen to music, use smellies, see the point in having lots of clothes, have time for most things and he travels a lot so it's all a bit... difficult :p

What about a chamois leather for his car?
Travel mug for the journey to work?
Little fun things like a 'Grow your own pint' kit?
Nice photo of the kids to go in his wallet?
    Pair of gloves, hat, scarf?
    Little pack of tissues?
Something related to his job (pen, notepad, diary??)

My mum puts smellies in all of our stockings - nice body spray from the 49p selection at Superdrug, that kind of thing!
    £2023 in 2023 challenge - £17.79 January

Quickly again (I will have a proper catch up soon, honest!)

Noodles - on the grabbit board there is china glaze nail polishes from Sally's really cheap and on 3 for 2, for your sil perhaps?

Oh an my Dh sounds like yours, everything stupidly expensive! I'm getting his socks & boxers from tkmaxx, they have Calvin & diesel ones and a few boxes were smashed last time I was in and they were reduced even further so may just package them in a novelty way for his stocking?

    Miniature of his fave drink?
Homemade vouchers (massage, meal, naughty stuff lol)
    Playing cards
    iTunes voucher
    Retro sweeties
Silly game (nerf gun or pass the pigs)
    Ummm...... Lol

  • Hi all, just checking in! Unfortunately i'm about 20 pages behind and I would dearly love to read back and catch up with everything but between wedding planning, Christmas planning and being really busy at work I run out of time! I also feel like i'm going slightly crazy at the moment with everything i'm trying to cram into my brain....:o I do hope you and your families are all well though and that the Christmas planning is still coming along nicely....

I was gutted on Saturday because I went back to my parents as i'd planned a bridemaids dress shopping expedition with my friend and I thought she was due to finish work at 2pm, so I went into town slightly earlier to do a bit of Christmas shopping in Home Bargains (I was mega excited about this as I don't live near one!) and then onto the 99p Store, but as I was halfway through the Home Bargains shop my friend popped up and said she finished work at 1pm, I must have got the time wrong! I had to cut my shopping short as we were driving out to a massive retail park which took about an hour to get to, and as she has children I didn't want to keep her out too late! So I missed out on Home Bargains and the 99p Store :(:(:(

Nevermind, i'm going to visit my auntie in Sheffield in November so hopefully i'll be able to make up for it then. :T

Your hubby sounds very very much like my bf! He only likes very expensive clothes, he loves his car but I wouldn't know what products to buy him! I havnt had any hints on playstation games as of yet so so far I've got an old Nintendo 64 console of eBay and I thought I might get the Jake Humphrey book cos he likes his Formular 1.
Other than that I don't know yet! I find him so difficult when I'm on a budget, he's fine to buy for when you have extra cash but this year I just don't! Mennnnnn!
  • argh! I paid £10 for my musical tree tin! ah well - hope people manage to grab it at £5, that's a great deal as it's lovely! :)
  • i've mentioned it before but im doing dh a coffee themed stocking this year ... last year it was an xrated stocking, which he found quite amusing lol. I've got him some flavoured instant coffee, a large mug, some caramel syrup from starbucks, some coffee chocolates, a little book of coffee etc.... if i can afford it i'll get him some coffee liquor or just some more spiced rum maybe as i've got him some shot measure things you put on the top of the bottle.

possibly a stupid question but have you asked him if there is anything he wants specifically?

my hubby is very difficult to buy for and yesterday he announced he would love a variety of coffee's because he loves coffee so much LOL - i could have kicked myself, of course i know he loves coffee but it never occurred to me to do a coffee hamper! I wish i had realised/been told before!!

    HI All

Just checking in with everyone. After a busy weekend I am feeling really organised. We went shopping saturday and then I striped the wallpaper on sunday so it is all preped and ready for me to paint next weekend, we then are having are carpets and sofas cleaned and I need to find some new curtains and then it will be all finished in time for xmas!!!

I have offically finished my christmas shopping !!!!!
Over the weekend I went to a variety of shops grabbing bargains as I saw them:
Wilkinson has a Large pannetone in for £3, I also got 2 x 12 metre wrapping paper one red snowflake style and a more child friendly one for ds stocking so 24 metres for £3! And 2 packes of chocolate coins for £1!

The card factory I got a santa plush for 1.99 and they had santa keys for 99p but I have already got one for my ds xmas eve hamper

Poundland had some gorgeous vintage labels which are brown luggage style and printed on saying things like 'dont open until 25th' 20 for £1 and I thought gorgeous and match my brown paper/ red and white theme perfectly.

Ikea I grabs some kilner jars 75p, for sweet display
THE santa bags (WHICH I LOVE, and tohse of you getting them wont be disappointed)
I agree the xmas decorations seemed expensive to me but maybe that is becasue I have been spoilt with bargains all year!
BUT in the food seciton I got a box of already made gingerbread tree decorations for 75p for 10 so DS and I can decorate them and the gingerbreadhouse making set which was £2 I actually am not sure I got make them cheaper!
Then went along to costco and probably got my biggest bargin 50 metres of the most amazing wide white and red snowflake ruibbon for £5!!!!
And not so much of a bargain but got DS the christmas happyland set which he always admires in ELC which each item is going in his advent 'bags'
So that is all wrapping, ribbon, labels, advent calendars, presents sorted. I think we are there with decorations but wont be sure until the tree and all the decorations are out and I can survey what we have.
So next on the list is the food shopping I have brought all non perishable items so just need to get sorted on the meal plans for xmas week.
I am so pleased I am so organsied it also means money wise I dont feel so pressured in the next 2 months as everything is brought and paid for and the food budget for xmas is already saved so I am really pleased to have finished!
