Everyone thinks that I am mad too, but don't let it worry you. If you have everything (literally) wrapped up in plenty of time, you can then relax and enjoy Christmas more than the people who run around like headless chickens.

    Hi Susan 42

Glad you liked the calendars at Jacquie Lawson - they are usually available to pre-order during Oct-Nov, but won't actually open until December 1st, but the jigsaw puzzle is available as soon as soon as you download / receive as a gift to keep the inpatient ones amongst us in check until Advent! Great to keep little visitors entertained!

I really liked your instant party boxes, btw. :T I think that I might just pinch your idea and make an Instant Advent box for young ones to include a snow globe, letter to Santa kit, mini cracker, seasonal sweets etc or an Instant Christmas Eve with a key to let Santa in, maybe a sweet version of a mince pie to leave for Santa, magic reindeer dust to light the way (glitter for the garden) etc. :santa2:

I've had a brainwave to solve my last minute wrapping away from little eyes problem. I'm hoping (DH willing) to wrap and put up in the loft once I've got a person finished. What do you think? Will my wrapped presents be ok up there?
    Jingle all the way:)

Good idea Nanamia but be careful if you have anything potentially affected by heat. Wish I had a loft to store in. All blocks the wardrobe or falls on you out of the overbed storage:eek:

CountingPennies - fantastic idea about Home Alone. Think this will be the next film I show DD (4). She loves slapstick type films and I really want to see it now!!

I have just noticed this thread but thought I would join as someone asked about storing in the loft and thought I would share my experience with loft storing. I have been storing presents in my loft for a good 20 odd years. Problems I have encountered are, as someone said mostly related to heat. I now avoid storing toiletries and candles in the loft after having candles melt and go misshapen and toiletries, particularly liquids leak. The heat seemed to make the liquid expand and then it all leaked out of the bottles.

We also have a problem from time to time with mice in our loft but we are pretty rural so I imagine that is not such a problem for a lot of people. I have large storage boxes in the loft and all my presents go in those.

The other thing I have learnt the hard way is separate anything that has to be posted early and label it. It saves getting the whole lot down to find one lot of presents.

    Hi Rosalie-Lavender

I had an oops moment a few years ago when I realised after Christmas that I had forgoten to post something with hiding things in the loft all year! :o

List, lists, lists now and as soon as I know for certain who things are for, I wrap and label and put seperately. I also write all of my cards by mid summer (apart from the ones I make myself) and address and stamp the ones that need to be posted (saves on postal rises too)

I also regift a few bits as long as they won't be traced! Does anyone else do this?

My sister had a big oops moment the year that she bought all the Christmas presents for her girls, went to put them in the loft and found the ones she had already bought earlier in the year.:rotfl:They had double that year because being quite young they would have been a bit too babyish the following year.

I once discovered a big pile of my Daughters presents in the loft in February one year. It explained why she seemed to have so much less than her brothers the previous Christmas. We have two lofts and some of them had been put away separately in a different loft. Now they all go together and anything put elsewhere is marked on a list.

Another thing I now do if I wrap up early, is either use sticky backed labels or write under the label who it is for on the actual packaging. Before I did that there always seemed to be one parcel where the label had fallen off.

And yes I do regift things and I know my Mum does because she sometimes gives things I have given her to my MIL. I think my MIL does it too.

Not just me then on the regifting then! At least I keep a careful check on who sent them originally and where they go to. It's only an occasional thing so I try not to feel too bad about it. Otherwise I send things to the local charity shop.

So pleased to see this thread!:D I've been super-busy the last couple of months and haven't really visited this board but it looks as if I'll have a little more time on my hands now. DH is out of a job at the mo so money is tight - let's hope that changes before Xmas. I'm definitely doing hampers again as they went down a treat, and when I had a glut of stuff due to mis-ordering in January I made chutney and red onion marmalade. Will need to have a think what else there is I can make early. Funnily enough people raved about the marmalade and that was made with Mamade with just a glug of brandy added so I'll do that again, nice and easy.
For the children I've put a few bits and pieces away and bought some bits in the sale straight after Xmas which I'm keeping for the Xmas Eve hampers.
Anyway, nice to have some festive chat!
