Gleek thanks for the heads up, I`m off to a different tescos tomorrow so I`ll have a look , were the things in a particular part of the shop?:o

There was a massive clearance aisle in this one (Hewitts Circus at Cleethorpes, right where it turns into Humberstone/New Waltham if anyone is local and reading) (it's a huge double floored store - not like out little normal sized one :rotfl:)

It had all sorts on it, inc little tester paint pots for 38p (just the right size for touch ups) 'Messy Mats' for 50p each, I guess what you colour/paint/eat etc on to avoid mess, got 1 each for the toddler next door and for my brothers niece), top gear pencil cases £1 etc etc.

There were also loads of bits that may interest others, off the top of my head there were various easter eggs, snow globes, happy 21st frames, hundred weight of stationary and diy stuff, cups, 'baby on board' car window stickers, wrapping paper for all occasions, birthday cards and all sorts.

The sparklers were in a different area at the back with all the party bits and pieces. There were quite a few other Christmas bits like plates with 'dividers' to let you have a bit of all sorts without it mixing, party bowls, paper chains (avoid! £2.50 sale price like I said above, blimey! You can make the same thing for a few pennies worth of card and some scissors!) table confetti, ice fountains, napkins etc. TBH I thought everything else was far too expensive and the sparklers were the only Christmas bit on this little selection that I thought were worth their money for 50p!

ETA: Hope he feels better soon CP! Good excuse to watch Christmas ones, especially with this weather ;)

I just brought my grandparents "yaktrax" type ice grippers £2.99 I was thinking what do I get them as they are SO hard to buy for, I wanted to get something practical as they themselves don't have much money - then i remember them shoe grippers and my nan had a nasty fall in the ice before Christmas so I thought these would be brilliant. I already had £2.50 in paypal so they really cost me £3.48 i think it was for the 2 pairs.
I would like to get then something else small each i'm thinking wait until the big sports direct sale and get them both hat, scarf and gloves or SOMETHING but it has to be light because on top of the cost of the gift i have to post them too.

Oh baby's cot came today. It was £129.99 reduced to £39.90 and then i had a 5% code so it totalled £37.90 + free next day delivery. We ummed and ahhhed about buying it before the 12 week scan but we in the end couldnt afford to take the risk of losing out on such a good bargain. Will get a bit each month (the mattress next month). We also decided against buying a pushchair for now. We are going to wait until we actually have the baby. For some this might seem crazy but we just don't think we will use it much especially considering when the baby is due. We only have a tiny toyota yaris too so hardly anything fits in the boot.
We are going to use a baby carrier for walking the dogs and if we go anywhere in the first few months and then wait and get a stroller. That has taken a huge financial pressure off of us, we have a very small house too.
If we had unlimited space in the house and car Id have just got one off freecycle or ebay.
We have gone through the MSE threads and worked out exactly what we NEED and kept that separate to what we would like.

Counting pennies - hope your son feels better.

I really like sharing with like minded people about the stuff im doing to prepare for Christmas :) I love this thread :)

Hi icemice - welcome, I think your mates are mad...lol Its so much fun planning all year around...we`re the normal ones (or real people) as Martin says :-)[/QUOTE]

I agree. I keep a Christmas cookery and crafts book by the bed for inspiration - how sad am I?!

In case all you snowy folks have never seen a wonderful online Advent calendar - check out the snowglobes on https://www.jacquielawson.com (2 to choose from so far) Great to send to friends and family. They do cost £2 (cheaper if you buy more) but they make lovely pressies and you can keep them on your desktop and enjoy the animation and activities every day even in the middle of summer. Have fun! :xmassmile

Ooh-can I join in the festivities too please?
I LOVE Christmas and spend all year trying to get pressies for the 7 adult advent calendars that I make for close family! (The freebies board is fantastic for that.) And I like everyone to have at least one 'luxury' pressie- again the Grabbit board is a major source of glitches from the likes of Molton Brown etc.

I could spend ages talking about Christmas but try to reign it in cus everyone thinks I am mad:D
    lovin' this site!
