Nic so sorry for your loss. Will be thinking of you.
    The secret of Christmas
It's not the things you do at Christmastime
But the Christmas things you do
    All year through

  • Oh and what a lovely thought about us all tucking into our christmas dinners :xmassmile

Went to my Dads today (WHY OH WHY OH WHY?) and mentioned my werther's vodka, to be told he hated things like that. Vodka should be left alone.

To which I jokingly said, ' Yes its to go with you Cheese and Pickles Hamper' (Which it was)

He actually laughed and said ' F!!! Off , Cheese and Pickle Hamper. If I want cheese and pickles I'll go and bl00dy buy some.'

I think he thought I was joking.

I just get so fed up sometimes. Everytime I try and do something different, nobody here wants to know.

I actually got in the car and cried.

I know exactly how you feel, the other day I was talking to my big sis about crafts and mentioned about the snowman soup, etc I had made for her and various ones in her family. She replied laughing that she thinks they all left them at her house and she had to throw them out!!!!!!!

Anyhow other people really appreciated the gifts I made, my other sister still raves about the hamper I made for her last year and she is even going to make one for a friend this year. My kids and mum also love the handmade gifts!!! :T

So do not despair, keep making and someone will like them!! And this year I will make more gifts for my big sis and her family and keep on doing so until they start to appreciate the finer things in life and the kindness, time and love that goes behind homemade gifts!!!! :p :rotfl::rudolf:
Every sixty seconds you spend angry, upset or mad, is a full minute of happiness you'll never get back.. :p:p

Oh how mean :(. I just don't understand why somebody taking the care to think of others with homemade gifts is so funny :(

Im shocked your sister told you that! I dont mean to offend but I assume tact isn't one of her strong points :) If i receive a gift i dont like, i smile and keep quiet! Oh well, persevere - I would be very happy to receive a hamper :)

    Btw, I am watching Disney's A Christmas Carol :) x
  • But as you said others love it . My sil gave me a hamper last year we had been a bit skint as OH lost his job and I hadn't had any treats for myself so she gave me a lovely one with bath stuff body creams chocs hot choc lots of pamper things. I loved it !!!!

Like you said others enjoyed them and its not the money you spend but the care and effort.

Sugarspun and Nic - I'm so very sorry for both of your losses, having lost my wonderful Papa at the end of July my heart really goes out to you because it hurts like hell.

I so wish someone would make me a hamper :( Most of my extended family are very well off so without sounding ungrateful it's mostly posh gift sets we receive. Obviously I like to receive it but it always seems that there's no thought put in, as the ladies receive the same and the Men do. So like 10 of each just ordered off the web.

Thats why I try so hard to make mine personal. We've had a lot of Birthdays since my Dad passed and photo's seem to have been the main features of the presents.
My cousin did me a lovely large photoframe with loads of pictures of me and my Dad on my Wedding day for my Birthday. It's honestly the most loveliest present I've ever had that she put that much thought into it.
I got my Mum a photoframe that said family on and put a pic in, she cried and said it was her favourite present....... a bit of thought goes a long way :)

My Mum always says I'm a very thoughtful person and I think I am.... well I try to be. It's my favourite quality about me :)

I wish it would snow :)

Oh, that must have hurt :(

I only tend to give to people who I know will appreciate things. I admire your perseverance in making more things for them, I hoep it works!

  • I haven't read today's posts yet so will catch up tonight but for those doing cheese hampers there is currently a glitch at Tesco. The double pak of Cathedral City Cheese is scanning at £1 instead of £6.76. It is a glitch so don't know how long it will last so I thought I'd share (hope no-one works for Tesco's!!) Hope it helps somebody x
