  • Sugarspun & nic2075 I am sorry to hear of your loses, I hope you manage to get everything sorted. *hugs*

Own my Own Im sorry to read of your dads reaction to the hamper, I think you should still go ahead with it but I like the idea of humbugs too. Ive given them to my own dad in the past when he gets grumpy about building costs!!

tab1967 Your picture of Oscar is lovely, A friend of mine had her first child two days ago and she is so tiny & cute! Making me very broody!

Have been thinking of maybe buying a christmas tree shaped cake tin this year, but was thinking how would I line the tin, has anyone used one before and got the cake out in one piece!
Need to try & get to tesco and have a look for this Betty Crocker Chocolate cake covering thing & see if its veggie otherwise I need to find/make an alternative.

And also my old boss who im still very good friends with has just become a grandmother for the first time & I was thinking about getting something little for her granddaughter for xmas but was unsure what? Anyone bought presents for relative newborns before any ideas orrrrr should I get something she can use in the future?
    Thanks!

Do you know what I *really* want? A nice winter cardigan. Something nordic/fair isle looking, it can be either pinks/greys or reds/whites. It'd be even better if it had 'subtle' reindeer in the pattern. I'm thinking something like this http://www.mcgregor-fashion.com/women-cardigan-bedford-fair-isle-red.html but far more MSE than this one. Help?!
Oh and not in wool - it must be washing machine friendly - I had one from Fat Face a while ago but it shrunk in the first wash (despite it saying it was safe to wash!)

    I'm with you completely :D

    I really want this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Merry-Christmas-Lady-Deer-Snowflake-V-Neck-Poncho-Cap-Sweater-Knitwear-Cardigan-/261093390532?pt=UK_Women_s_Jumpers_Cardigans&var=&hash=item3cca60f8c4

I'm a bit worried about the length of it though. Although I'm 5 ft 9 I have tiny legs (inside leg is about 28") so I have a really long body - and large boobs so buying tops are a nightmare, most come up too small :( although the bust etc is large - looking at the picture it's not overly long on her and generally chinese ladies do seem to be quite small so I don't think it'd be quite long enough :( It's a shame though cos it's lush, I've been lusting over it for a good couple of weeks.

If it wasn't from China (and over the import thingy for risking duty) I'd jump at it.

*huuuuuuuge hugs to everyone who needs them* :)

They're only titchy and they don't change colour unfortunately - but they're pretty :)

Pre ordered this. Looks nice and will be here for well before Christmas. I would need to watch it first, just to make sure it works of course lol

  • Hi

First time i have seen the macaroon tree & loving it!
Was thinking of making one myself :-) trying to be MSE n'all!

Fill a cake stand with green macaroons & put a star or something at the top? Struggling for ideas :-)

Help would be appreciated.. Or tell me if its a silly idea & would be easier to buy one!

    xxx

Not macaroons but I made one of these last year.

I bought a set of cutters from Lakeland but you could just make patterns from paper of varying sizes of stars and cut round them.

It was very simple but really effective dusted with icing sugar.

SugarSpun - when my parents died I wrote both of them a card with all the things I never said, or wanted to say in it. I then sealed it and took it to the funeral home and made sure it went with them. Could you arrange to do something similar with your Christmas card?

This is a great idea. Myself and my Brother wrote Dad a letter thanking him for everything he did for us, how much we love him and how much we would miss him. Then when we went to view him at the funeral home I popped them in the top pocket of his suit :)

DNF and Pinksteps thank you both so much. Now I've seen it I'm a little disappointed in my head it was like the one MarliesMummy put the link up too:) The very reason I wanted to look was to c if I could "borrow" the idea. I'm with you MarliesMummy I bought a polystyrene cone was thinking I could stick the macaroons on similar to a sweet tree:) is it me just looking on my phone or does the M&S one look like a plastic frame?

Thank you too Rosie I'd forgotten about those. I popped into Lakeland last year when they'd reduced that set but they'd all gone:( Not to be put off tho I found a set of star cutters in graduating sizes from asda and thought I'd try a mini version to put with my pressies then ran out of time! Do you think it would work with my asda cutters? Cos I'm NOT NOT NOT going to run out of time this year ( not if you lovelies have anything to do with it)
