    Hello everyone.

Have been missing in action for a little while, but getting going with all things christmassy! DD wants to put the tree up now - I have trained her well ;)

Have made a start on christmas present purchases, and got a list going for those people who I haven't bought yet. Determined to be finished in November this year so I can actually enjoy the run up to Christmas for a change.

I have a quick question - does anyone know where I can get cheap candy canes from? I've only seen them in Sainsburys so far and they were 12 for £2. I want to use them for crafting, so thats a bit much to pay. I've seen that home bargains had them last year for 69p or 79p - but when I went the other week they didn't have any (its a 15mile journey so can't just keep popping in on the off chance - plus I end up spending loads more on other things when I do go so need to limit visits :o). I wouldn't mind paying £1 for 12 if anyone knows of anywhere? Thanks in advance :A

Oooooooo - and big news. Rudolph monopoly has arrived!!!!! Can't decide if I am going to have the elf bring it - or whether I should get the credit for it :rotfl:

Only 52 sleeps til laplandUK :j:j:j
 Married my lobster in July 2011

Thanks for all the comments about the cone thing. We used to make a few of them for weddings and things. There so easy to make. The purple one was for a wedding in June. My favourite one I did was a garden themed one with packets of seeds, watering can shaped biscuits etc.

Im going to make one for halloween so it looks like a witches hat covered in black spiders, bats and eyeballs.

    x

I am not much of a baker but I will, if I may, copy your ideas using the fabric hearts that I love to make. I will use Christmassy colours instead of my usual Cath Kidston. Where do you get the cones?

  • Just remembered - been meaning to post for ages - what is this snowman soup I've been reading about!!!!!
  • abis21-Ive seen candy canes in Tesco and Asda recently. :)

ellie9ellie-Snowman soup is hot chocolate, marshmallows and a candy cane to stir. You can package it in lots of different ways, cellophane packets, cellophane cones, in a mug wrapped with guess what...cellophane! :rotfl:You can tweak it to your preference, some people use a chocolate dipped teaspoon or chocolate stirring stick etc. You usually add a tag with a poem too to explain what it is. :)

Ah - now I see - my two would love this - good idea. That you for enlightening me I'll keep an eye out for mini marshmallows. I have two mystery shopping jobs on today at a Supermarket so will see if I can pick some up.
